Just curious, I have one among the kids at my school and I enjoy it. We have barely any rules... so if you could say what rules you have, if any, I'd be in debt for your advice.

In high scool we just did regular boxing and followed thos rules. In later years for a brief period of time, we did a kind of No Holds Barred thing, but feelings got hurt and friendships were suffering etc. Not a good idea in my opinion.

...you realize that if you started one of these things because of the movie, you just allow the conservative PTC-types to have an actual point, right?

Not to mention completely missing the point of the movie.

I couldn't have said it any better myself.

I could understand wrestling with some friends legit, but just have all-out fights? Nah.

Well yes, I am retarded. In a way I did miss the whole point, but I never started one because we saw the movie. I understand where you're all coming from, and hell your half right, but we didn't do it because the movie. Most of us just like the adrenaline high from fighting.

When my friends and I did it after high school, it wasn't all out fighting. I guess it was just boxing without the gloves. And it was stupid, which is why we stopped. Some people's ego's can't take shit like that.

Oh for crying out loud, it's really sad that these things actually happen.

I spar with friends, each of us has at least 5 years of martial arts training

So in other words, we aint amatuers, and we know all the safety precautions we should take.

If you're just randomly fighting untrained peeps, you're an idiot

And by the way, anyone who voted yes has already broken the first two rules.

See, like I said, I can understand wrestling around with friends, and sparring with them. I've sparred with a couple of friends (no face shots allowed), and it was pretty fun. But to have an all-out Fight Club? Pretty damn stupid.

Damn it! I knew I was forgetting something! Yes, for us it isn't full out fights. But like wrestling with some strikes until someone taps.

When I spoke those words, I'd finally realized I'd become like everyone else. Just another mindless college student who thinks they're freeing their mind when they're just sponges soaking up someone else's propaganda on just another message board. I had no pleasure of my own; that was evidenced by my ever-increasing post count and DVD collection. Plus I couldn't sleep.

Speaking of fighting, I just kicked the shit out of 3 8th graders, so it's time to have a party~!

We used to fight with sticks. Completely untrained and a little bloody.

Well ok guys, whatever floats your boat, but I just like to eat steak and get very, very drunk with my friends rather than saying 'heeyyyy, let's fight%'

Yeah, that's about what I do these days too. Getting fucked up with my friends is all I need.

In high school we used to have fights in my basement, but we'd stop whenever someone needed to take a break. It was pretty funny when someone would make you stop everytime you punch them.

Looks like Ed read through the "Top 10 Posters" thread in NHB...

Oh yeah, these things do really exist, in abundance. I've visited a watered-down version once with all submissions and no strikes allowed (tapped out like a bitch four times in a row to TNA's Chase Stevens), and I've heard of full-on versions around.

If you're going to "fight" your friends, it should either be sparring (with the caveat that you both know what you're doing, have sufficient training, and know the safety precautions) or wrestling just for the hell of it. Every now and again, at parties, a few of us will clear space on the floor for a little wrestling. We also take care to be away from things like glass doors, and to cover protruding furniture corners with pillows. Nothing complicated, nothing designed to injure someone or anything like that -- just a couple of chaps throwing it down, relatively safely, for the hell of it.

Tom, as one fellow big man to another, may I ask just how drunk your friends are to be to actually step in the rugged circle with you?

For various reasons (fairly obvious) none of my friends will participate in any kind of wrestling/fighting with me.

When I was younger though I did wrestle with some of my friends a couple times at parties or some other indoor area. My problem back then was that whenever I went to the ground with someone in a hold or a takedown, everyone else would jump on top of me in a dog pile of sorts.

"Let's jump on the big guy!" they'd always say.

Oh, how that was fun...

;)

Yeah, but the obstacles like furniture and trees add a whole new dimention to Scufflin'. Drywall commonly falls prey to the top of a head with some momentum, or an errant elbow.
