Wrestling Observer Live is coming back

According to Dave Metlzer, not only is WOL coming back to the internet, but it's going to be broadcast through radio in selected cities.

 

Look for in depth info in the Wrestling Observer website on Monday. So far, the following cities will have the radio show:

- Detroit

- Cleveland

- Portland

- Atlanta

- Waterbury, NY

 

The actual show debuts on March 17th in a three hour format.

 

He'll post all the info on Monday.  I don't know if it will be a daily or weekly show.

It's going to air weekly on Sunday nights, from 11 p.m.-1 a.m. ET.  The 3 hour show on 3/17 is a Wrestlemania special, which is the reason for the extra hour.

YAY! Not to sound like a WOL mark......no wait I am a WOL mark! I can't believe it. I missed it so much. It's been nearly 9 months since WOL was on! Yay!

 

I just hope they don't start out talking about how glad they are to be back. They must start out like nothing ever happened:

Maybe I'm the only one but anyone else dislike Meltzer? I lost respect for him about five years ago but I don't want to get into that...

Man, it sucks that WOL will only be a weekly show. It was a part of my daily routine! And if I missed it one day, I knew I could always listen to it in the eYada archives. Oh, well. Maybe if it does well, it will expand to 5 days a week eventually.

Bryan: "......No, actually I just popped out to do my new spot on the LAW, which is on right now!"

Hey you make them sound downright boring. That was the most exciting 2 hours of something wrestling related I've heard in a long time! Certainly more exciting than the WWF.

My biggest claim to fame in the wrestling world was writing a WOL drinking game which Bryan read on the air. Now I can resurrect it! I just hope we get to hear all those cool songs that Al played before & after the ad breaks ("Bark at the Moon", "Connected", etc..). And what would WOL be without the Anti-Drug PSAs?

Bps the show's archives aren't around any more, but the show was pretty damn good.  Dave and Bryan know a lot about wrestling and Dave usually told at least 1 funny story a show about something that happened to a wrestler.  The guests with the exception of Neidhart and the Mountie were good, with Zenk, Brunzell, Missy, and Heenan being the best.  He had Flair, Benoit, Eddy, Saturn, Superstar Billy Grahm, Bockwinkle, Rey, Konnan, and a ton of others on.  I can't wait for this show to start up again.

Hey, even Jacques "To make a long story short" Rougeau was a good guest, if a little long-winded. He seemed really enthusiastic about the interview and told a pretty interesting story (the Dynamite/Jacques incident, which supposedly is in "Pure Dynamite"). It was also kinda cool to hear him put over Hogan the way he did, which was a nice change from the usual (such as Raven's "Hogan is a fucking asshole", also from WOL.

I forgot about Jacques "To make a long story short" Rougeau! That was classic. I don't think he can start a sentance without that line.

 

Mrs Rougeau: "Morning dear, how did you sleep?"

 

Jacques: "Well to make a long story short, I slept pretty well"

 

Jacques jr: "Dad will you take us to the zoo today?"

 

Jacques: "Well, to make a long story short, no!"

Yep, not only would he start off every sentence with "to make a long story short,", he would then keep talking for about 15 minutes without letting Dave or Bryan get a word in. He was still a pretty good storyteller though.

Matt from Vancouver phones the LAW and tries to start fights with them. He's like the wrestling radio equivalent of those wrestling fans that turn up everywhere. Who was that one guy that got banned? They got rid of him for being stupid then he went on another show and complained and said they were being mean!

Ok here's the latest blurb on WOL from today's update..

 

Here is as much info as I have right now on the debut of Wrestling Observer Live which will be on Sunday night from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern time for a special show from Detroit. We should have a complete station list up by tomorrow on the site. The show will be going weekly but be two hours in duration. The time slot isn't finalized other than it will be Sunday nights, most likely from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern. The show will be available on the web at www.sportsbyline.com live. It will be archived on CBS Sportsline but the turnaround time at first may be as long as one week.
