Guest HartFan86 Posted January 12, 2003 Report Posted January 12, 2003 Just letting you guys know, Edge was on Seattle doing publicity for Mania in Seattle and he visted the field and interviewed the guy in charge of turning Safeco Field into Wrestlemania 19. Here's a few things: -The Wrestling Ring itself will be on 2nd base. -Over 12,000 people will be on the field for the event. -The entrance will be by the "385" sign (I believe near Center-Right Field) That's all I heard so far.....so Discuss. Mania sounds like it's going to be pretty fucking awesome.
Guest The Tino Standard Posted January 12, 2003 Report Posted January 12, 2003 If you go to ticketmaster.com, you can see a seating chart for how they are going to set the place up. It looks pretty interesting. The entrance ramp basically comes right out of center field and it comes in on a diagonal in relation to the ring. Also, the aisle is in the corner of the ringside area, not the middle of a side. It had kind of an 80s-WWF look to it in that respect.

It sold out in less then an hour and a half after the genral sale started. On a regular basis with no pre-sale, I'm sure it would have sold out in under a day.

Some of those floor seats are going to be really, really bad. I mean, if you go to a normal-sized arena and you are on the floor, but not in the first ten rows, its bad enough. If you're like 100 rows back at Safeco... well, good luck seeing anything. Also, with 12,000 people on the field, I think the capacity will be between 55,000 and 60,000. I think it was the Observer that something about a 70,000 seat capacity, but that is WAY off. It's a baseball stadium, not a football stadium.

Add in the 12,000 field seats, you get a little under 60,000. But WWE will say 60,000+ anyway.

I bet they will get over 60,000..which will be a SafeCo record just because of all the other seats added.. Are they putting down anything over the field.. I feel bad for the poor groundskeepers if they don't..that field is gonna be torn up something harsh regardless..

Just look at WM 3. It will be just like that, except smaller. The people in the back of the floor seats had SHITTY ass seats. When it comes to the WrestleMania set up, WWE always come through. Ever since X7, when Vince decided to book large arenas for the event, it has been awesome. Since WM XX will be at MSG, well I would think so, he should ALWAYS book them in large arenas. Just because WM is bigger than life, so should the arena.

That explains how they could get 50,000 at the Alamo Dome for the Royal Rumble and have Wrestlemania at the 18,000 seat Rosemont. They were simply not in the position to book a large arena or stadium that far ahead of time. At this point though, having a Wrestlemania at a normal arena (as in not a stadium or MSG) would be anticlimactic and downright boring.

The event was amazing and worth all of the praise... but seeing those sequences with the Indian women dancing around a tree holding portable television sets while Blassie says "WrestleMania... a celebration... of life" just sounds like something you would see in a Jerry Zucker slapstick movie... like Airplane

I think WCW had a lock on the United Center the way WWF did with MSG, thus they got stuck in the suburbs for the granddaddy of them all. Fun fact: WrestleMania 13 took place in the smallest city of any to host a WrestleMania, at about 3,800.

We've had the Astrodome, the Skydome, now Safeco, next year is ostensibly MSG. I wonder if they could do XXI at the Jones Dome, or the Superdome, or maybe the New Soldier Field. If Chicago has a nice Freak Weather Pattern it could be bearable.

They need a cable of some kind in the back of that motherfucker or people forking out some money to see it! Wrestlemania at the Superdome would be INSANE. They could legit get about 85,000 in there after all the seats were figured out with the stage and such.

Nice new retractible roof stadium, could work well, if this SafeCo thing goes allright. Id at least have the opportunity to see Wrestlemania live if it were in Wisconsin, just about the only WWE event Id consider paying to see in its present state.
