Kurt Cobain: Journals

Recommended Posts

Guest BigPoppaKev

(This might belong in Comic Books and Literature but oh well.)

I am currently reading Cobain's journals. I think it is a great insight into his mind and it realy shows how brilliant this guy really is. I think the most spectacular thing in the book is the cartoons he draws. They are just great. I was thinking if anyone has read it and your thoughts on it?

I read it, and found it quite interesting. I felt sort of dirty for leafing through his most private thought, but I am a slightly sociopathic voyeur, so that's nothing new. I thought the lack of references to Courtney Love was worth noting, but that might have something to do with her having access to the source material before publishing.

Yeah, going into the book I wasn't expecting too much about Courtney for the pretty obvious reasons. If I had journals talking crap about me I know I wouldn't want them out her.

How long before someone comes in here an denounces the entire book as being fake?

But it is fake! I have reliable sources that claim that Courtney hired El Duce to write the journals and pass them off as Kurt's. That would explain all the anecdotes about being run over by a train, if nothing else.

I use to be a big Nirvana fan...but I just have no interest in reading that. And if they are legit then Courtney's a cunt for releasing it.

I didn't really find them very interesting. Mostly just incoherent ramblings and that's the parts that you could actually read. And like other's said, I felt it was an invasion of privacy and I never could really get into reading it cause it just made me feel like an asshole for checking it out of the library.

As far as the invasion of privacy thing goes, any book's like that to a point. What about, say, The Diary of Anne Frank, for example? I've never read this Cobain book, but I'm sure it doesn't contain anything TOO personal, or else it never would've made it past the lawyers.
