Guest bravesfan Report post Posted May 12, 2003 Picked up FMW: The Legend Dawns for $1.99 today. Haven't got around to watching it yet, but it pimps Hayabusa v. Awesome on their back cover. It should be at least decent (1:40 in length).
Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted May 14, 2003 Similiarly, I picked up FMW: Flying Assassin for $4.95 today. Haven't watched it yet but it also promotes a Busa/Awesome match as well.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted May 15, 2003 I'll never forget when I turned 16, I got a job at a dollar theater. Since it was my first real job, my parents made a big hooplah about saving my money, being frugal, ect. I agreed. However, a few weeks after starting, a Movie Mart Video was selling off a TON of wrestling videos. Some were on a table, others were in a box under the table. They ranged from $3-6 depending on what color sticker it had on it. Anyways, I had about $5 in my wallet so I picked up Best of WWF Volume 1 since it seemed like the rarest one they had. So I ran home and searched for the envelope of cash from my last paycheck. I didn't know where it was since my mom cashed it. Well, she caught me looking for it, and I couldn't help but tell her that I needed around $100 to buy 'rasslin tapes. After some typical insults a wrestling-hating mom would tell, she gave me my money. So I raced to the store and scooped up the 30+ videos they had. The old woman at the counter actually gave me a basket to carry them in and since I purchased so many, I could use more than 30 days to return them because of defects. As it turns out, the rarest video I ended up getting was probably The Women of the WWF from 1988. I get home and ol mommio gasps at all the videos I "wasted" my money on. "Wait till your father sees this!!!" she threatens. Much to my surprise, my dad rummages through the tapes, pats me on the back, and says how these videos are going to be worth something some day. I still laugh when I think of this. 4 years later, I'm making good money considering I go to school. Staying at home doesn't hurt the financial status either. Anyways, I buy a load of tapes via ebay and still get the brown beating from time to time from my mom and my dad never seems to mind my video-collecting hobby. Some things never change. good story, I can definately identify with that.............

Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted July 8, 2003 Okay question- This local used video/CD place called "Vacs and Videos" has 2 old AWA Commercial Tapes, Best of The Road Warriors and Best Tag Team Matches, I think they're selling for 3.99 but they're both 30 minute quickies. Is it worth it?
Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted July 8, 2003 Last year a local video rental place went out of business and I got Wrestlemania 2, Wrestlemania 7, Summerslam 1990, and 11 Coliseum home videos for $1.50 each. And the Coliseum vids have some good and very rare matches on them including: Bret vs. Shawn ladder match, Steiners vs. Bret/Owen, and Flair vs. Mr. Perfect loser leaves the WWF. Is it worth it? Well, I purchased the AWA videos of Sgt. Slaughter and Greatest Championship Matches for cheap but still feel ripped off. Still, I'd pick up the Road Warriors tape for the novelty of having one of, if not, the only commercial video dedicated to the LOD.

Match was good, odd though with the escape rules in effect, like The Hardyz/Dudlyz cage match from SurSer 01 But right now I'm watching Halloween Havoc 89. Guest drdrainoscott Report post Posted July 18, 2003 I love reading this thread as I always hope to one day find a great steal at a video store in my area. The problem is that all of the stores in my area don't sell or rent wrestling tapes anymore. I live in the Northern Virginia area. Has anyone ever had any luck with any stores in my neck of the woods?
Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted July 20, 2003 Never been to VA, but my advise would be to try anything. Try libraries, used cd stores, used book stores, garage sales, ect. You never know what you'll find. Of course if you already have, disregard this.

Guest scratch Report post Posted July 28, 2003 My sister Karin (who is a mark for garage sales, flea markets, stuff like that, she runs www.greatamericandinnerware.com) found me possibly the greatest deal ever this weekend at a garage sale in Vermont.....113 tapes and the lady who was running the sale wanted to get rid of them so bad, she gave her all 113 tapes for FIVE FUCKING DOLLARS!!!! They were all taped onto blank tapes and whatnot, BUT she got me a lot of rare shit that I would otherwise have to pay a lot of money for. A lot of WWF PPV's 87-00, WCW and ECW PPV's, WRESTLEFEST 88, among a shitload of old Raw's, Superstars, Nitro's, SNH, and countless others. My sis said that they filled up two huge boxes and that she could get them to me by the 2nd or 3rd week of August when she comes down to Jersey for a visit (obviously if she shipped them it would defeat the purpose of buying 113 tapes for five dollars, ya know?). When I get them, I will post up on the trading board stuff that I already have and I'll trade for stuff I still dont have. Happy tape hunting!! --Scratch

I usually pick up the 2000 stuff from Roger's because I'm the only one whoever rents them. There is no more left at this time all thanks to moi. I hate Blockbuster and never go there. I don't know about garage sales, I goto some but I never find anything.
Guest scratch Report post Posted July 29, 2003 A few years ago at a garage sale in my town, I picked up a whole stack of Coliseum tapes for 2 bucks each, I think I walked away with about 10-12 tapes...from what I remember I got: Best of the WWF 1,8,12,15 Supertape 92 Wrestlefest 91,92 Royal Rumble 97 King of the Ring 97 and a few others. Garage sales are good places to go find used videos, someone almost always has a box laying underneath a table or around somewhere in the yard. Also check stores that take donated stuff, sometimes older people give away their kids things after they move out and whatnot (Salvation Army, etc.) --Scratch
