Rubber thumb wrestlers

Recommended Posts

I have to have two of those, one of Hogan ... and one bald black man with plain red trunks on and a mustache. I for the life of me can't recall any old time WWF wrestler who looked like that. I can say that it wasn't Bad News Brown.

Can anyone enlighten me as to who that was??

I don't think it was JYD. He had red short trunks ala Hogan and looked WAY too skinny to be JYD.

They didn't make any George Wells figures in those, did they? Because that's about the only guy by that description I can think of.

Unless it's a knockoff figure, it's JYD. The figures were pretty cheaply made and they made him with the Hogan-like red trunks despite that he never wore them. He's also a lot less beefy than his real life counterpart, so I say it's JYD.

As for the original topic, I've only got a couple of them (like a beatup Big John Studd and a nice looking Randy Savage), as I'm more interested in the 10" ones. I've had all of them at one point or another, but have fewer now, including some rare ones in really nice shape. I've also got most of the bendies, which look like their 10" counterparts, only much smaller. The only ones I don't have are Savage, Heenan, and the Hogan with red knee pads.

While we're talking about small rubber wrestlers, they also put out the Rock 'N Wrestling Erasers which are some of the toughest to find figures out there. There's only six, but they are all tough to find with the easiest ones being the two Hogans and the Iron Shiek. Jimmy Snuka is pretty rare as well, but Roddy Piper, JYD, and Wendy Richter are just impossible to find.

I bought that one in a garage sale eons ago and always assumed it was Special Delivery Jones. I also have Roddy Piper, even though half of his waist is taped together.

There's a toy store called Big Fun in the vicinity of where I live that has a lot of used 10" rubber figures. They're about $5 each. I bought Iron Sheik and George "The Animal" Steele (which is taped to the top of my monitor at work). I may go back one of these days and pick up Nikolai Volkoff, but other than that, I don't really want the otheres they had.

Then whoever designed him must've had a few good doobies. Because no wrestling fan will tell you it remotely looks like JYD.
