Marvin Lewis new coach of the Bengals..

Hmm. Im happy for him, although I don't think he will be able to turn around the Bengals any time soon.

Also, this means that the Redskins will have their 5th defensive coordinator in 5 years (I think..). The defense will have to learn a whole new defensive scheme again, meaning that they will suck again next year because the Redskins defense wouldn't be able to stop a slug from scoring on them.

Pay now or Pay out your ass later for Redskins season tickets..

As first reported in Saturday's Washington Times, fans who leased 10-year club seats when FedEx Field opened in 1997 can renew those clubs seats now, four years before the contract expires, and pay nearly 40 percent more than they pay currently. Or, those fans can wait for their contracts to expire in 2007 and pay more than double what they currently pay.

Either way, the price of the highest-price club seats will increase significantly over the $1,995 price fans, in 1997, agreed to pay for each seat for the next 10 years.

By signing up now, a Redskins ticket holder will pay $2,750 per seat next season, with the contract rising 3 percent each year to $3,588 in 2012, according to the Redskins. If club-seat ticket holders wait until 2007 to renew, the ticket price will be $4,254, increasing to $5,429 in 2012.

Dan Snyder is evil.

Lewis is walking into a team that is just abysmal and he was better off remaining D coordinator with the Skins rather than piss away his chances at getting a head coach spot on a good team rather than taking over a team as bad as the Bungles.

Oh and yes Snyder is an idiot who has to be one of the most short sighted and ignorant owners of a team that ranks up their with the Spanos goofs and Brown.

I think the Skins are promoting the linebackers coach to the D-coordinator position who already said he would be running a similar scheme. The defense is fine, Skins just need the offense to stop commiting turnovers on the 20 yard line.

Good luck to him. He has a tough task ahead of him. I was actually pumped when he was rumoured to come to the Lions...then they kept Mortinwheg. Sigh. Ah well. Good coaching choice by the Bengals...too bad they are still the Bengals.

Well they say that Lewis is good at scouting players. That's a good thing since no one else on the team seems to care about actually scouting college players before a draft.

Alot still falls on Mike Brown's shoulders as far as the Bengals succeeding goes. If he removes his head from his ass and lets Marvin Lewis make the football decisions as far as talent and coaching staff then they will be making good steps.

I think the Bengals would be a great coaching job. The owners are so dumb it takes them years to fire you no matter your record. Plus...they have to get better eventually...even if by accident.

I'm glad he came to Cincinnati, now if Mike Brown lets him have control of the draft picks, then it could work out very well. Anywho, I'm happy, looking forward to next season.

I wish I had your enthusiasm OctoberBlood. I've been let down for too many years now. They've got to show me something. The first thing they can do is trade down their pick and draft defense.

That being said Marvin has a good football mind and I think he is a good hire. He will give the team discipline it really needs.

And with that being said there is only so far he can take them with the chains of Mike Brown holding the franchise down. If he ever takes them to the playoffs while Mike Brown is in charge he should win Coach of the year in a landslide.

Agreed.

And, right now, I think we have a good team. I really hope that Takeo Spikes comes back to Cincinnati, since Marvin came in. That would be really nice. But back to what I was saying, Corey Dillion, Peter Warrick, Chad Johnson, Takeo Spikes, Justin Smith, John Kitna, etc .. we have good players, and if they use their picks correctly, we could get more D help, which is really needed. Kitna can win. I believe in him to learn a bit more on decision-making.

Plus if I wasn't optimistic every year, I'd be bald.

I really doubt it's going to matter.

Every time the team shows signs of life under Brown he manages to destroy the team.

I doubt Lewis can do much until Brown stops sitting on all the cap money that he doesn't spend. If they make a good draft and Brown spends the extra cap room to bring on a superstar or two then maybe the team could be looking at a playoff berth in a few years.

I wish Lewis luck. Dealing with the Brown family, he's going to need it. If Lewis can get a meaningful say in the draft picks, then maybe Cincy won't botch the #1 overall pick (they don't need Palmer, and I don't think Lewis would want him). The Bengals actually have some quality players, and by upgrading a few positions, they might be able to make a decent improvement next season. Anything that gets the players past the stigma of being the league laughingstock can only help.

I think that Marvin Lewis will do a great job as long as the Bengals get a quality GM/Director of Player Personnel type guy

I've heard that his defensive schemes are complicated and takes a season or two for teams to get adjusted to.

Brace yourselves ready for a losing season, Cincy -- it's not like you all don't have experience with this.

I wonder if this qualifies as a minority hiring, since this really isn't an NFL-quality team. Perhaps for those scoring at home, this counts as a 1/2 point or something in the minority coach tally sheet...

Lewis doesn't have anything to lose. He wont get heat from the media if the Bengals suck.
