What is the record for "ball dropping"...

Recommended Posts

Guest Goodear

So people actually expected Steve Austin, Bret Hart and Mick Foley to return for a made up awards show? Oh yeah, that would be the absolute best way to make use of them. Hey fans, Steve Austin is back after all this time to get a statue! WhooHooo! Come on folks, if the WWE gets a hold of those guys again, they won't be coming back on Confidential or the Slammys.

Booing the Rock for making movies is about the dumbest thing ever.

Steiner did- His debut was on Confidental.

When a show promises suprises and gives awards to Mick Foley and Steve Austin and does this big tease that Austin may show up- then yes- I think we have a right to be pissed.

Rock should've absolutely been there live- this show was supposed to be a huge celebration of RAW X but ended up turning up to be a big joke

I really want that RAW magazine- can't find it anywhere. :-(

Edge shouldn't have been the final guy either- maybe the McMahons as a family could thank all the fans and wrestlers

When did they Tease Austin being there?

Showing clips of him in Raw Moments isn't saying he is going to be there.

Also, If Austin did show up, everyone here would be bitching that their stupid for wasting Austin on an Award show.

There are more then enough things to bitch about.

Mene Gene, Mae Young, Moolah and Patterson don't count as "Past Stars" to me.

The Tribute was nice, but left out a few people. Louie Spocolli(sp?) Rocko Rock, Bertha Faye, probably a few more I can't think of.

And Don't get me started on thier "Best Match of the Decade" Crap.

My big mark-out moment was just the crowd in general, with the Rocky insults.

I couldn't help but high five my brother in laughter after the "boring" chants.  But boy, did Jericho look like Rock's bitch tonight..I mean, c'mon, he's 3000 miles away, snatch and run!

I think that shit with what Rocky did with Jericho, made Jericho look about as bad as he's ever looked. Why did they do that? Say what you may about HHH or HBK, but that crap REALLY made Jericho look week, in my eyes more than anything else.

And the funny thing was, the crowd was clearly much more into Jericho. If he'd played the crowd like a face, he could have had them eating out of his hands.

I'll bet HHH was listening and thought "Better get Steph to job Jericho to Lawler a few times."

Hmm. 1 item I haven't heard mentioned is the fact that they didn't even use the old RAW Music..

No I heard the old RAW theme with it's horn section and fire alram going off. It was the music used to intro every RAW retro moment.

WWE has dropped the ball too many times already that even the fans are eventually turning on them little by little, this show was just the icing of the cake, Triple H's constant push, the fact that they keep on treating Edge like he is a wrestling God even though he had to be carried like a kid by in-ring generals to look good and the only pop he gets is from obese chicks while more deserving wrestlers like Booker, RVD , Jericho and even his brother Christian don't event get the chance to shine just like Edge, the fact that Vince sided with the writers(Steph) instead of his #1 superstar Austin, I could just go on and on. The fans are getting tired of Vince's stupidity and we will turn on him to show him who are the ones that made his ass rich.

Dave Scherer had this to say over at 1Wrestling

"I don't think that I have ever received as much email for one topic as I have for the Raw 10th Anniversary Special last night. Almost every bit of it was negative. None of it was positive. I can't say I disagree with anyone's assessment of the show. I found it to be a tremendous let down. It didn't deliver anything that it promised to the fans, either in content or surprises, and instead was just a two hour put over show by the company. The parts that weren't embarrassing (like Steph and HHH's moon over NY for example) just worked to remind the fans of how good the show used to me. I doubt it's what WWE had in mind. Me? I am glad I watched 24 and The Shield live, and watched the anniversary show on TIVO."

How is Christian more deserving????

Christian the guy who seemingly has one move- the choke and constantly delivers boring matches then Edge a guy who ya' know is over.

He was not carried like a kid in those matches-it takes two people to have a great match.

You have no idea who the hell pops for Edge- I'm an Edge fan and I always pop for him when I go to a live event- am I an obese chick?? (note- the answer- is no)

Oh and Austin was totally teased. Vince's speech made me think Austin was gonna come out and beat his ass like Vince's speeches like that always were. The fact that they went to a wide shot didn't help either.

Bitching about a nice tribute to wrestlers who passed on is pretty petty if you asked me- Yea they left some people out- big deal. I thought it was very well done.

I didn't "Bitch" out the Tribute. I said the Tribute was nice, but they left out a few people. A little far from Bitching.

Also, Edge is much better then Christian

If Chirstian was given the chance he would shut all of your Edgehead's up.

You mean by being giving two tag titles and major exposure on RAW every week despite being boring as hell in the ring and only having like one move-

the choke?

Yep one crappy show.

They didn't TEASE us with Bobby Heenan, they TOLD us that he would be there, just a mere three days ago. There is no excuse for that either, simply about part of the bull shit. He never agreed to come on the show, but they just assumed he could be there, and they said he would be there. They then asked, and he let them know he was too sick and ill to make an appearance there.

Austin should be saved for pay per view. Austin will get screwed out of the rumble, come back and stun Vince the next night. They totally have the make of a "Vince is jealous, Austin comeback" story and the fans are going to want to cheer him so they might as well go with it. Stun JR too for Confidential.

Like Keith said and I've been saying for quite a while, they should have gone with the Euro finals and had Bret Hart accept it (or the tag match with Austin/Michaels). That would have been classy. Sable, or Sunny, should have won the women's award.

Eh, I watched the Shield anyway when I got back from work.

If Austin could not be there, they should have not teased it , even if it was only for a second.(Vince coming out and mentioning his name, and then saying he wasn't invited just sucked. Just a f*ck you at the fans again)

And their were NO suprise guests. Its not like we are debating their choices. There were NO choices.

And they had Bischoff take a shot at Foley, which is pointless.

The nominees for awards at times seemed picked at random, specifically Match of the Decade.

The jokes were generally not funny, the speeches (save Kurt Angle, who is god) sucked, and NOTHING happened that was interesting. Nothing at all.

Total waste of time. A 10 Year celebration of a show i watch without fail for about 5 years now, and it BORED me. Thats ridiculous.

This show was a joke, bottom line. Everyone has basically stated how I feel.

Only good thing was the 2 video packages (opening and Tell Me A Lie video)....but that took up what? 8 minutes out of 2 hours.

So depressing.

The only good part of the show was the end, when Molly almost fell asleep on stage while clapping unenthusiastically, totally reflecting the reaction of the audience.

Yup, the Heenan deal was inexcusable. Not only this Okerlund advertise him being there last weekend, but he did as well the week before too. How they can f'n literally announce his appearance, yet not even CALL HIS ASS until Sat. the 11th is beyond unorganized levels that even WCW NEVER HIT.

As for Austin, Foley, Hart, etc........I never expected them to show, just because the bridges in those cases are burnt to hell and honestly, a return for them (especially unadvertised) would be way better to see on a regualr show or a ppv, IMO. Plus I knew this show was so booked on the fly that I never even expected them to have even attempted to contact those names, which was probably the case. Or if they did, given the lack of organization, I'm sure they didn't make a huge effort to talk them into it.
