Best Tearjerkers?

Recommended Posts

Guest Flyboy

Now, we all have some movie out there that makes us tear up a little or maybe a lot (I think everyone has one... I think).

I have many for some odd reasons... guess I'm a sensitive guy or some shit.  *shrugs*

But, my vote goes to The Cure.  God damn, I cried like a litttle bitch on that one.  Plus, it's a underrated movie, in my opinion.

Apollo 13 believe it or not.  The ending was just perfect in that movie, and for some reason I tend to cry tears of happiness when I see it.  I have no clue why.  I am not like this for any other film.

The only time I ever came close to crying out of sorrow in any form of media was the second ending of Suikoden II (where Jowy Atreides dies).  That's it.

My vote would go to The Sixth Sense, mainly in the part in the car with the kid and his mom. *sniff*

"The Green Mile", not having much patience I saw that it went over three hours which worried me but by the end of it I felt it was well worth it. It was a great movie with a sad ending that made me as close to shedding a tear than any movie has.

Bambi would be an obvious choice for me. You need a heart of stone not to cry at that, especially at a younger age.

I always cry at the end of Shawshank when Red gets out of prison and eventually meets up with Andy.

My Life as a Dog has a few scenes which are very sad or touching. The one with the young kid and his dying mum is a tearjerker because it's played in a very understated way.

There are loads more films which deserve a mention but i can't think of them off the top of my head right now.

Funny thing...my movies, anyways.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day had me crying at the end, regardless of when I watched it. I first saw it when I was about 7 or 8, and I just started tearing up.

The Crow always gets me as well.

Schindler's List comes to mind as one of the saddest movies I've seen, but it wasn't really sad in a tearjerking way.  It was more the kind of movie that makes you feel like you've been hit in the gut.  Over and over.

Field of Dreams was a tearjerker for me.  So was the ending of The Professional.  Awakenings too.  There's gotta be a few more but I can't think of them.

I've heard Grave of the Fireflies (an anime) is a MAJOR tearjerker but I haven't seen it.

It didn't make me cry at all but I was amazed at the reaction when I saw Titanic.  So many people in the theater, mostly women, were just flat out bawling.  Jeeeez I couldn't wait to get out of there

The last movie that made me cry was The Elephant Man.  The part where he talks about whether or not his mother would be proud of him definitely left me wiping my eyes.  Maybe part of why that's so sad is because it's based a real person.

Has to be "Blow". The ending.

And "Born On the 4th Of July" a few parts

It takes a lot in a movie to do that to me , its really good if i can get into it being so real.

Dogs & Cats--when the beagle, Lou, looks to be dead.  my dog, Pete, was a beagle, and i found him dead in the snow, and i'll be damned that he doesn't look JUST like the dog in the movie.

(*sniff*)

I haven't seen a lot of these.  I like movies, but I don't watch too many.

The Sixth Man, when Kadeem Hardison died.  I also cried when the little dog looked like it was dead in Michael.

I hate it when animals die and the Green Mile was too because he looked like he could have broken out at any time but he stayed and took his undeserved punishment..

Dancer In The Dark

I've seen it twice, and both times I wept like a baby wuss when Selma died.

I suspect I'll react the same when Bjork passes away in earnest.

"I cried when Forrest Gump was talking to Jenny's grave"

I forgot about that. My old roommate and I went to see Forrest Gump and during that part both of us started to well up but didn't want to look at each other because we were afraid of what the other would think. Two grown men crying during Gump. A surreal moment.

Schindlers List, if only for the bit at the end where Schindler breaks down, saying if he'd sold his car etc he could have saved more lives.

Oh, and the reading of the W.H.Auden poem in "Four Weddings and a funeral".

One of my favourite poems used very well.

Okay, I don't quite know why I'm admitting this, but...

A League of Their Own.

At the end, in the "hall of fame" scene. Pretty much throughout, but like a frickin' gusher when "Stillwell Darling" is seen, and tells Dottie that his mother had passed away. It's so damn sad. And manipulative. But it nails me every damn time. Ugh.

The Green Mile, Forrest Gump, and Private Ryan made me tear up. Damn that Tom Hanks. The season finale of Buffy last year also made me shed a few. Generally, I'm very sentimentalm so even Ninja Scroll got to me a bit at the end.
