More America/Canada griping

Recommended Posts

I'm gonna give the discussion inspired by Banky going berzerk in the WWE folder and Bob Barron defending Canada a spot here.

Whatever you want to say about America or Canada.

My short statement, since I could care less about this bitchfest:

Bob, you were born and raised in New York or somewhere in the East, right? So, are you a naturalized Canadian yet?

One more thing:

Americans really don't mind the Canadians much, since there is not much of a difference between us. The Canadians really seem to envy Americans. They hide it by claiming they're better. Alot of them descended from the British, who weren't too fond of America and Americans after 1776 and that has rubbed off on Canadians today. You Canadians just want to try and do something for yourselves like keeping the peace, but alot of you just can't stand that "America Junior" stuff, you go hyper-defensive on your nation. Let me just state that I don't have a problem with Canadians. The CFL, while I have barely watched it due to lack of coverage in America, did give Doug Flutie another shot and Flutie is a good man. Canadians did some good stuff for the world, nobody can deny that. They helped get slaves to freedom with the help of people in America. They seem to be really friendly people. It's the vocal minority that just dislikes Americans so much.

That's gonna be all for me, barring any reason for me to reply (I'm sure I will reply).

Flame on with your petty American-Canadian talks. Just remember that Bettman is moving NHL Hockey out of your country for good. *evil laugh* [THAT WAS A JOKE. IT WAS NOT SERIOUS. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. HOW ARIZONA GOT A HOCKEY TEAM IS A MYSTERY TO ME.]

Here's the thing that gets me: People were actually surprised that Canadians played football. And not soccer, but actual, honest to God, North American football.

And, in addition to that, I have NEVER claimed to be 'better' than Americans. I can't speak for every Canadian, but I'm pretty sure most of us feel the same way that I do.

Considering my proximity to Canada I have a certain fondness for them.... and a certain annoyance.

I'm not a naturalised Canadain yet. I actually wasn't in the country legally until January 4th. Right now I am here on a student visa

I'm not really sure about huge differences between Canadian Football and American Football. Except for the Rouge.

I knew Canadians played football.

TC- I don't have a problem with you at all, and I said that the majority of Canadians didn't really share the 'look down on America' point of view.

Although, I speak for myself when I say that I don't mind hearing some stuff like that minister in Canada who called Bush a 'moron'. It's not like Americans haven't thought that also.

In the CFL, there's a 55 yard line, which marks the center of the field. The endzones are deeper, and I think the field may be wider.

I don't know about the rules, though. I imagine there's some differences, but I can't be bothered to look them up.

The main differences between the CFL and NFL are what Spiff pointed out, plus the CFL is 3 down football. There are some other smaller things (unlimited motion in the backfield, no fair catch, and the single points that are awarded for missed field goals or punts that don't leave the endzone being the bigger ones of that kind). I think the ball used to be bigger, too, but I'm pretty sure they've done away with that over the past 5 years or so.

Envy? bwahahahaha

I sure envy the fact that you have over 11,000 gun deaths a year compared to our 336.

Canadians and Americans are very simaler but we're also very different.

Most Canadians don't understand American patriotism because so many of you make it seem so silly. Canadians are patriotic too but we don't go the lengths americans do.

As A Canadian I don't envy American's. I live a half hour or so from the border and If it wasn't for concerts, etc. I'd never set foot in the states.

That's part of the Canadian master plan. They make good beer, and when they think we Americans are hooked, they start spiking the beer w/ mind-control drugs. Before too long, we'll all be mindless, moose-wrangling automatons, slaves to the impending Great White North Dictatorship.

I tortured some eskimos. They were your 1st attempt at mind control, but you didn't quite have all the bugs worked out of the system yet.

You'd be surprised how much they start talking when they're on the business end of a harpoon.

Do you have any sources for your claims?

How about the fact that the costs to maintain your gun registry up there is skyrocketing? I'm sure that the criminals up there are also willing to register their guns.

Anyways, can you tell us if gun deaths are going up in your country (or have been) or not.

Bravo to Canada for not having so many gun deaths, despite being a smaller nation with less guns

I could care less about America vs. Canadian griping. Both are less than perfect model societies. My whole point was calling out Dangerously for being ignorant. He can claim he is smart all he wants, but the proofs in the pudding. By making such an embarrasingly ridiculous post, he is branded a fool. If you get good marks in school, it means jackshit. There are many dumb people who do well in school and plenty of smart people who don't. Its all about how one applies themselves to the material given. While some may be smart of mathematics or chemistry, another might know a lot about mechanics or even current events. Mechanics and current events are a very small part of acedemia therefore, those who thrive in mathematics and chemistry are branded 'smarter' than their counterparts.

My point, Dangerously can have all the good grades he wants, but by making stupid comments without thinking, than he is as fucking stupid as anyone.

And don't say you were just joking or above getting into a flame war because this isn't neither. This isn't me trying to start a battle with you. This about me ridiculing you for a stupid comment - one, for the record, you have yet to retract. No one can defend or condone your ignorance because it was so obvious.

So to reinterate, this isn't Canada vs. America. This is about thinking, and using common knowledge and applying to the task at hand. Dangerously didn't do that, thus he is a fool. And deserves to be called a fool, and treated like one. I'll stop when he admits he made a ridiculous comment and deserved to be trashed by Barron, myself, and others.

Well..no.

It's just a couple of moose's wearing ski masks. It's rather embaressing but all the defense budget allows for.

I use to work for Amtrak (Train Station) and we use to get the Montreal and Toronto trains in everyday.

My first day on the job, the Toronto Train came in and everyone came into the store. This guys walks up to the counter and ask, "Do you Sell Fags?"

I stood there Dumb founded until my Boss said "He wants Cigarettes."

Fags, Cigarettes, what's up with that?
