I can vouch for the fact that I have heard people ask if they could "bum a fag". Oh Canada.
Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted January 16, 2003 On the topic of guns, I seem to recall reading somewhere that Canada actually has more *registered* weapons per capita then the US. Of course, the majority of those are hunting rifles and the like, but still.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted January 16, 2003 There are 7 million guns and 10 million households roughly in Canada. That's a lot of guns.

The average ANYONE in Canada knows who Bret is. Everyone in Calgary can give you directions to his house for christ's sake. Benoit is well known as well. and yes there are a few freaks who don't like ice hockey.
Guest Banky Report post Posted January 17, 2003 No one outside of wrestling knows who Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Edge, or anyone is. People know who Bret Hart is, but even that is a tad suspect. I'd say 50% of the population may know who he is, the rest would be lost. If tipped off about the Harts being in the wrestling business, some may remember - but for the most part he is not a 'Canadian hero' - regardless of what he or his loyal fans would like you all to believe. The hart's have done alot and not just in wrestling, Stu recieved the Order Of Canada in fact. Man, who are you kidding? No one in Canada, outside of wrestling fans, knew who Owen was before he died. They knew his family, but they didn't know shit about him. Also, the way he died was the main reason for the media attention - not the man himself. Bret Hart was more popular than his brother, but by no means is he this hero. Wrsetling fans need to look outside this fantasy world they live in and realize this guy is a wrestler. Not that I condone thinking like this - but primiarily wrestling is a joke in the mainstream. Bret isn't taken seriously, and isn't all that respected - AND thats even if people know who he is. Wrestling is not even a blimp on Canada, or even America's radar screen. Always remember that when trying to decide whether wrestlers are 'heros' or 'icons'. There will always be people like Hulk Hogan, The Rock and to a lesser extent Steve Austin and Ric Flair and to an even lesser extent Bret Hart in Canada. Which brings me to my next point. Many people in Europe are always complaining about how Americans use the word "Soccer" instead of "Football".When Canadians (and Austrailians) do as well. But they never get any shit for it. Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted January 17, 2003 I don't like hockey. But then again, I don't really like ANY sports, short of Boxing, Muay-Thai, MMA, and the like. And I'm not even a big enough fan of those to buy PPV's or anything.

When the Olympics were in Atlanta: "And a Canadian runner broke the world record in the... THIS JUST IN, an American jumper has just picked up a BUNNY rabbit and they rubbed noses! Ahhh, isn't that cute... Lets send it down to Lou MacDonald for more... Lou? Lou: Yes? Lou, what colour IS the bunny rabbit that the American Jumper is rubbing noses with? Lou: Well I haven't gotten a good look at the Bunny... And so forth. I'd say that 90% of the hate Canadians have towards the US is because of (your) media spreading all this propoganda and making everything US-centric. I mean, a Canadian 'official' calling Bush a moron got more US press than 4 Canadians getting bombed by Americans Pilots. I don't think Americans can truly know what that's like since there really is no model for comparison. Canadians appreciate the US alot, but to us you are a lot like the Rich Drunk Uncle who comes over at Christmas and tells tall tales and thinks he can play by his own rules and take all the cranberry just because he drives a fuckin BMW. WELL FUCK OFF UNCLE SAM cause you didn't start world war one OR two yet you guys take all the fuckin glory while Canada was in both from the beginnin! Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted January 18, 2003 Canadian News usually focuses on america news, and that even though there are stupid people in Canada, there are bigger dumbasses in the states (like George Bush) As for the hockey hate, there are 800,000 canadians living in LA... All of them hating hockey. As for the media, i think the most media that they ever covered something by Canada was probably world youth day or the Ice Skate Scandal... I bet no one would care since it seems most Canadians dislike the US and/or its military.Or something like that..... Actually, I bet a lot of people would care. If one person overseas dies at the hands of the Taliban, it's front-page news. If a Canadian killed 4 soliders and it was an accident, it would infuriate Americans all the more. When it happened in Canada there was mourning and a feeling of regret but not the overall feeling of blame you'd get if 4 Americans were killed by a Canadian. Front Page of Canadian Newspaper: " 4 Canadians killed in accidental bombing in Afghanistan" Front Page of American Newspaper: " Canada: Friend or Foe? Bush decides whether or not to take nuclear action."
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted January 18, 2003 what also pissed off Canadians, when Bush said after the 9/11. "We like to thank....the British" The british?!? meh forgiving... Later...
