Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted January 16, 2003 He was on local radio yesterday (I live in the Bay Area) saying he wanted the job. He was an assistant under Bill Walsh years ago and said he still considers himself part of the 49er family.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted January 16, 2003 He was dodging the question on NFL 2Nite last night. I'd say they are either in deep negotiations or it's just a matter of time until they announce it.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted January 17, 2003 It's official, Who else is out there? Green didn't like Jacksonville and Walsh and Donahue will break the bank for their buddy Dennis. Meanwhile, I bet Marriucci signs a One year deal with espn and takes over Parcells...wait for the three mandatory nfl openings... My picks for the vacant spots are New York Giants-After going 8-8 and fassel inability to maintain the players will send him packing. St. Louis Rams-Mike Martz screws himself with another dismisal season at 7-9 and is promptly shitcanned. Detroit Lions-Morinweg project expires with another bad season at 6-10. Marriccui contemplates going to home town Detroit but signs with St. Louis instead for huge sum. Takes the rams back to the Superbowl in his first season. Dennis Green cuddles T.O to sleep each night but never gets S.F anywhere that Marriucci didn't.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted January 17, 2003 Green would make a good fit in San Fran. He has the experience with the 49ers, so it would be like coming home... He had winning teams (excluding playoff flops), so the 49ers winning tradition continues... Oh yeah, I almost forgot. He's BLACK, so those !@#$% that did that stupid lawsuit (or whatever it's being called) will be appeased, somewhat...
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted January 17, 2003 Mariucci will end up in Detriot either this year or next.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted January 17, 2003 The list of candidates to replace fired head coach Steve Mariucci is said to include a growing number of names including former Vikings head coach Dennis Green, current Niners defensive coordinator Jim Mora, Jr., Eagles offensive coordinator Brad Childress, and college coaches Tyrone Willingham and Bob Stoops. fanball.com
Guest Bosstones Fan Report post Posted January 17, 2003 Hiring Green would be a bad move for San Franciso or any other team out there that might be looking for a coach. Sure, Green wins 10+ games during the regular season most of the time...but the man is a terrible coach who has choked MANY times in the playoffs and doesn't exactly run the most harmonious of locker rooms (i.e. all the turmoil that was/is? in Minnesota). If the Niners hire Green, they will never, repeat, NEVER, be anything more than they are now: a good team that goes to the playoffs every year but never really gets close to actually winning anything. Why is it that all these NFL (and all pro sports for that matter) have to recycle all these old, castoff coaches? Geez, let's get some new blood in here from time to time; you never know what you might find (i.e. Bill Callahan, Tom Coughlin, Brian Billick). Just my $0.02... True, but San Fran will be doing it with a BLACK coach, and that's all that matters nowadays...

Being from Minnesota I'd like to say that it wasn't Denni that choked, try one missed field goal. And that NY Giants slaughter 2 years ago was because the Vikings are cursed. All of the team turmoil is because of the players being frusterated, it was never Denni's fault any of that happened. He's a great coach, Minnesota just hasn't had the chemestry to win a superbowl... ever. So shut up you spoiled bay area wangs, we've had to deal with this for decades. WTF does that mean. Dennis Green didn't have the Vikings ready for the game against Atlanta. No excuse for that lost. Minnesota had one of the best offenses in NFL history. I hate when people say that the coaches can only do so much, and they aren't out their playing. What exactly is their job, I would say to motivate and get the players to show up every week, and play hard. The Vikings were unprepared for both the Falcons and Giants games. Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted January 18, 2003 What I find funny is how Green was looked at as a "weak" disciplinarian in his last couple of years with Minnesota while things have seemingly become worse down there with Tice coaching the team.

What? Things didn't get worse. The team has much better chemistry under Tice than Green.
Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted January 18, 2003 What? Things didn't get worse. The team has much better chemistry under Tice than Green. Which was evidenced by Moss nearly running down a person and then getting charged for possession weed.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted January 18, 2003 That was an overblown incident. Besides that the evil Randy Moss didn't cause any problems, he had over 100 catches despite being misused more than half the year.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted January 19, 2003 I wouldn't hire Dennis Green if I owned a team. What coach has ever won a Super Bowl after being fired?

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted January 19, 2003 Bill Belichek was fired and even after New England hired him alot of people were still saying that he's a great defensive coordinator, but that he can't make it as head coach.
