Guest RobJohnstone Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 Sorry, I don't know what happened the first time. Anyhow on dvdtalk.com forums. IN the dvdclub forums they list every Columbiahouse Code there is. So when you join the club with these codes after you get your first few dvd's and then fufill your membership, it averages out to about $9 a dvd. I figure I would let everyone know because I have been doing this from quite some time and have bought like 70 dvd's from them this year --Rob
Guest NoCalMike Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 Could you explain this "code system" a little more?? It SOUNDS like a good idea.....
Guest Matt Young Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 Yeah, I'd like to hear more as well. Columbia House's CD club is a total ripoff, with everything being at least $15 and the shipping charges. I actually never bought a CD from them, but I managed to get about 40 CD's (4 shipments of 9 or 10) as my freebies, and eevntually they just stopped contacting me about ever buying any. People who did that are probably one of the big reasons they ask for a credit card number now. Oh well.. I was 14 at the time, so I was young and stupid. At least I got free stuff. Anyway, as I said, could you please give us some more info on these DVD deals?
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 I'm curious, as well. They may have some stuff for cheaper than what I've seen in stores, so I wouldn't mind trying this out.
Guest RobJohnstone Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 ok, there are promotional codes that they send out to their "better" customers. These codes give a much better deal than the regular deal. To see what I mean go here http://www.columbiahouse.com/cl1/ch/welcom...pin=71&bak=NONE and in the top right hand corner where it says "enter savings code" enter 7MJ You will automattically see the deal get better. Here is how the 7MJ code works out 7MJ 4 DVDs for $0.49 each 5th and 6th for $9.95 each 2 (Plus S/H/T) That all averages out to 8 dvd's/$9.83 a piece. There are also codes that you can use that don't need commitments, so you can do it in one shot. Let me know how this works for you guys. --Rob
Guest RobJohnstone Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 btw, please do not rip them off. --Rob
Guest Mikey2Dope Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Is this code(or any others for that fact) only for the American Columbia House? I've tried all the codes from dvdtalk and your code and none of them work. If so do you or anyone else know where I could score some codes for the Canadian Club? Thanks.
Guest RobJohnstone Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 ask them at dvdtalk. Those guys know every in and out of CH --Rob
Guest Rob Van Dam Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 I bought 4 dvds from columbiahouse for 35.00 plus shipping and tax: Shawshank Redemption Big Lebowski Space Balls Me, Myself, and Irene
Guest Dmann2000 Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 It's worth doing if you quit after fufilling your purchases, I bought videos from them onetime and it averaged out to around 7-8 bucks a tape, damn I should've seen if they had wrestling back then.
Guest RobJohnstone Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 I bought 4 dvds from columbiahouse for 35.00 plus shipping and tax: Shawshank Redemption Big Lebowski Space Balls Me, Myself, and Irene you got ripped rob, use the codes. Your still gonna need to fufill. dman, yes, it is worth it, I have canceled and then redid it again like 5 times. --Rob
Guest Lethargic Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 I thought about trying this but I went all through the site and never found anywhere on there to enter the code. Where is it? I even put something in my cart and went as far through checkout as I could without buying anything and there still wasn't any code box.
Guest RobJohnstone Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 its in the top right lethargic, not all the way on top but rpetty hifh up there. --Rob
Guest Lethargic Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 its in the top right lethargic, not all the way on top but rpetty hifh up there. --Rob Oh I figured it out. It's only for new customers. I thought you meant they were coupons for existing customers. Not so special now really. I mean, the 4 movies for 50 cents thing is the standard joining special, no coupon needed. As a matter of fact the new standard deal is 5 for 50 cents, so if you use this code you're getting ripped off of one.
Guest RobJohnstone Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 no dude, you see it all wrong. Signing up regular you are getting ripped. Read the dvdtalk forums, I do not feel like explaining it. --Rob
Guest Lethargic Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 7MJ code - 4 DVDs for 49 cents. Buy two for 9.95. Then you have to buy 2 at 19.95 before you can quit. Normal deal 5 DVDs for 49 cents. Buy one more now for 14.95. Buy another right now for 9.95. Leaves you with 2 to buy at 19.95 just like the other. The code deal gets you 8 DVDs at a (before shipping) cost of $7.75 per disc. The new normal deal gets you 9 DVDs at a (before shipping) cost of $7.50 per disc.
Guest RobJohnstone Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 jmj is not the best code, 7cy or something like that is, I don't recall at the moment. Plus certain codes allow free shipping, its all different. Like I said talk to those guys over there. --Rob --Rob
