I keep seeing the commercial but never see any zombies. I was windering if they were gonna look stupid. I think thet last good zombie movie was Night of the Living dead and that was a long time ago. I really want to see on how they imprived from that movie and this one. But I really want to see it.

The commercials for Resident Evil fill me with a sense of dread.  Deep, deep dread.  Especially the shot of the heroine Matrix-kicking the dog.  (The spoilers and reviews I've read at aintitcoolnews only make the dread worse.)  Why on earth would you make a movie based on a video game, and then change everything around so much that it no longer resembles the game in any way?  I mean come on, do we really need Milla Jovavich, one of the worst actresses working today, reprising her one good performance from The Fifth Element?  Well, I guess ANYTHING would be better than a reenactment of Return To The Blue Lagoon or The Messenger.

The movie looks HORRIBLE.  It appears that the filmmakers threw out almost anything resembling the storyline of the game except for Umbrella employees becoming zombies due to infection.   It resembles the usual shit done by hack director Paul Anderson (Event Horizon, Mortal Kombat I, etc.).

The team sent in to clean out the building only vaguely resembles the STARS team of the game, and it appears the only member of any repute will be Milla Jovovich, who's playing the Jill Valentine / Claire Redfield of the series, although the name for her on IMDB don't match any characters I know from Resident Evil 1 or 2.

As for the zombies, I saw a little of them when I went to Super Troopers and saw the theatrical trailer, and they looked okay but not spectacular.  At least they weren't slow moving people pained grey, a la Dawn Of The Dead.

I dunno, I suppose I will be checking this movie out just for the hell of it...but yeah, I'm not digging what I am seeing so far on the previews and I really can't stand Milla Jovavich, but she did play a good pothead in Dazed And Confused!

oh yeah, I didn't think Mortal Kombat I was THAT bad, it had its good moments...now Annihilation was a horrible peice of shit and don't even get me started on what a worthless, jumbled-up gorefest Event Horizon was...

I liked Mortal Kombat, Johnny Cage was cool, although he made Goro look shit

Annihilation was crap, but Jax ruled

Whens 3 coming out

Doesn't look that good to me.  I've read the George Romero script for RE and it's 200x better than this one.

Go Here to look for the script.

I read somewhere that it takes place 24 hours before the first game. Remember Bravo Team, and how they went in before the crew in the first RE game by about a day or so? Ever think that the team in the movie is Bravo Team?

Besides, it has Eric Mabius in it. I'm a fan of his. He's not GREAT, but he has his moments. The Crow: Salvation was pretty damn good, and he was in the lead. Of course, he had Fred Ward and William Atherton to fall back on, but hey...

Anyways, I'm excited. It's been a while since a theatrical release of a horror movie that has zombies in it. Even if this is an action film...IT STILL HAS ZOMBIES IN IT!!

Romero script, eh? I must give it a read...

If it IS a movie about the Bravo Team, it's f'in stupid because the Bravo Team all died by the time the Alpha team arrived, with one exception.  This is supposed to be a major release, so I doubt that they'll make it with this dark of an ending.

I forget the reason why they rejected the Romero script, but EGM has pegged this movie as a bomb ever since they did.

The Romero script was pretty good (it's available on the internet somewhere), but I believe they rejected it because it was too violent or too expensive to make.

I've been waiting for a Resident Evil movie for a long time, and have had high hopes for the film since it was announced.  I hope it won't suck, but seeing some of the films that've come out this year (Slackers, Impostor, and the dreaded Time Machine), this can't be much worse.

Please, please, make this as good as Jason X, which I've already seen but it comes out in April.

From what i've seen it looks like it is going to be rather horrible. However i'll watch anything with zombies so even if it is terrible i will see it at some point just for that reason.

As far as someone on here saying something about this being first theatical horror movie with zombies in a long time. Well from what i've read about it and seen in the trailors it looks like it is going to be more of a sci fi/action movie with zombies instead of horror/action with zombies. If it looked more like horror/action i'd be in a hurry to see it. I'm not in much of a hurry to see it when it looks to be sci fi/action.

Well they have been saying for awhile now that the movie isn't going to be totally based on any of the games that are out. So if you go in expecting it to be totally faithful to any of the games you'll be disappointed. Well actually just lower your expectations completely. That way you'll be able to enjoy it even if it turns out to be nothing but mindless action with alot of zombie killing.

Best thing on that commercial is Milla giving the kick.

it fills me with something other than dread though.

Enough to get me to see the movie

I thought the movie would suck based on the commercials, but the movie wasn't that bad. I never really played a lot of the RE games, so maybe i could enjoy the movie a little more than a diehard RE fan. The only one I played was 2, so I never really knew much about the plot behind the series. I have friends who play the RE games and have watched them play some of them and watched the movie with one of them. He thought the movie would suck, but he was able to enjoy it somewhat as well.

I thought it was a great movie and a great... I guess.... set up to the first game.  I don't know the history of the game as well as others, but I seemed to know what they were talking about most of the time.  They even foreshadowed Nemesis, which I thought was really cool.  And the ending was indeed pretty dark.

I was the only jerk laughing at the end of the movie when she had the curled toes and fell down. I didn't like the reference to nemesis because blatant setups for sequels bother me.

I went today with a sense of dread...and found myself very entertained.

Not a great movie by any stretch...but I enjoyed it more than most "great" movies that come out.

I had low expectations going into the movie after watching the commericals and reading the synopsis on the RE movie official website. But I was actually suprised on how decent the movie was. Aside from the very generic plot, terrible acting, and cheesy-cliche dialogue, I don't regret seeing it. The ending left an obvious cliffhanger in case there's going to be a sequel depending on how much success this first movie has. I give it a B-/C+.
