Guest GameCop Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Instead of paying 35 dollars for the Rumble, I'd like to see it for free at a sports bar. Can you guys help me out?
Guest mickberna Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Go to WWE.com, select the PPV tab on the menu bar, and go to Blast Areas. It lists the bigger restaurants that regularly show PPVs, as far as I can tell.
Guest HartFan86 Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Also, check your local newspaper and look around for ads. You're sure to find stuff.
Guest Choken One Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Just go to Hooters or BW3's they show it for free on about 20 screens and some even really get into it with Big PPV's with some type of Promotion "WM Wing Fest" and stuff. Make sure you leave around 630 and ask one of the people first...note if you see a group of midteens, then you found your place. I recomend BW3 since Hooters is outrageous.
Ultimo Dugas Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 The Hooters in our area doesn't have it, I wonder if its just a few that actually carry it.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Got off to a late start looking didn't ya?
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Heh. Well, my usual way of watching these shows is dead. I guess I'll download it from ABPW later since I have no choice. Buffalo Wings or whatever that BW3 is doesn't exist in California, and I've never seen a single Hooters here, just Southern California. Must be 'cause of San Fran's reputation for men who don't care for big-boobied women, or women at all, if you get my drift. :-P
Guest MillenniumMan831 Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Just got home from BW3. Guess what? No Rumble. Why? They don't want to piss off the football crowd. But what about all that extra money they make ($5 cover charge)? No one knows, the owner said no ppv. Hmmm . . .
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 I'm considering trying the two pizza joints that double as sports bars tonight around 8 (Pacific Time here, they replay it at 8/11EST for our crowd) to see what's happening. Maybe I'll be lucky. Probably not. I'm just too embarassed to actually call and ask if they're showing pro wrestling.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Yeah, the crowd at the bar last night was about 70% wrestling, 30% football. Sometimes the cheers coincided, other times it was weird to hear a bunch of people cheer a headlock or something, for example. I heard the football people complaining to the waitresses that they were there for sports, but saw wrestling instead. I mean, shit, they left 40% or so of the screens on the AFC title game. I let those loud-ass football hecklers have it every time something neat would happen on the Rumble, like everything after the World Heavyweight Title match. "ANGLE IS YOUR FUCKING GOD!!!" drowned out "GO RAIDERS!!"
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 I just had to tough it out with my bad TV. I don't think any places around here show WWE PPVs, but even if they did, I live in Northern California and any bar owner who wasn't showing football would be crucified on his bigscreen TV. In fact, the local news here is talking about how even a Church sermon was going on about the Raiders yesterday.
Guest JHawk Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Just got home from BW3. Guess what? No Rumble. Why? They don't want to piss off the football crowd. But what about all that extra money they make ($5 cover charge)? No one knows, the owner said no ppv. Hmmm . . . Well, in fairness they don't usually have an important game start at 6:30 pm (what the fuck was that?). But you're right, the bw3 I go to in Boardman, OH, makes you buy a five dollar food voucher when you come in to "help pay for the rising costs of WWE pay-per-view events". So why lose that added revenue (most people buy at least two or three beers in addition to any food) just because the NFL tried to pop a cheap prime time rating is beyond me.
Guest NoCalMike Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 At the bar I went to, they had the playoff game AND the PPV going side by side. I have got to say, having the playoff game in good view got me through the first couple of matches on the Rumble.
