Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted January 18, 2003 Late last night I got fucking hacked!!11!! I lost all of my stuff. I had an EWR game in it's 6th year, my resume and all my tax stuff on it, I have a partial backup of the taxes but it'll take forever to update it all. And more importantly I lost all the work I did For TMO on his articles. I did have All the research I'd done for him for The Smart Marks Encyclopedia saved to disk but everything else is lost. I need a beer...
Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted January 18, 2003 So wait. You did all of TMO's work, while he took all the credit? That bastard.

Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted January 18, 2003 how did you get hacked? --Rob I know little about computers but My friend matt was over today to help me salvage files and said it looked like it was done by someone who used a sent file or something to piggyback into my PC. whatever the fuck that means
Guest RobJohnstone Report post Posted January 18, 2003 you should probably get norton anti-virus corperate edition. Nothing gets through that bad boy. NOTHING. If you want a copy aim me and i'll send it to you. --Rob

If you want a copy aim me and i'll send it to you. --Rob Anti-Virus won't stop someone from hacking you moron. I suggest a firewall that looks at incoming/outgoing connections as well like Zonealarm or Kerio.
Guest The Old Me Report post Posted January 19, 2003 You can also get Norton Internet Securities, which has a firewall. I have a 2002 copy of that if you'd like.

I suggest a firewall that looks at incoming/outgoing connections as well like Zonealarm or Kerio. how is someone going to connect to a windows based computer to "hack" without there being a trojan? Dude, you throw the word hack out way too loosly, before you call someone a moron, KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. It's not like his windows box is serving people like a unix box would. Firewalls help, but fuck it, they are not necessary. Get norton corperate, I will send it to you if you want cwm. --Rob
Guest MrRant Report post Posted January 19, 2003 If he was say... running 2000 pro and had IIS or something running and didn't know it it would... MORON. I would think I would know since I've had to deal with various internet viruses and hacking a tad bit more than you have.
Guest RobJohnstone Report post Posted January 19, 2003 yeah right dude, you can't pose for me. I was systems admin for the pocono record, a dow jones owned newspaper for years, until I decided to change professions. Now let me ask you jerky, since he admits he doesn't know much about computers, why would he be running an ISS server or anything like that? Think about it, and when you respond thinking you are pc superior to me, ask yourself why dow jones would hire a 17 y/o to be their systems admin? I have to have some skills don't you think? jackass --Rob

Guest The Electrifyer Report post Posted January 22, 2003 Can't you get hacked just by someone having your IP or something? I just heard it from a "friend" who hacked me using that damned Sub7 trojan and now am very skeptical about giving away my IP number.
Guest RobJohnstone Report post Posted January 22, 2003 well The Electrifyer, you would acually need to have the the particular trojan on your pc before hand. You, so if you never got rid of it, you should. Bubble boy no, mr. rant is an idiot who was talking out of his ass. When we talk politics he can say what he likes about me because it is opinion. When we talk about IT stuff he should shut his mouth and let grown folks talk. Especially since he has no idea what he is talking about. --Rob
Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted January 23, 2003 I once helped hack the channel 1 website, its not my fault they were stupid enough to have login names like the anchors first names and the passwords being their last names. No one was ever gonna figure out that one. And then we laughed when they talked about it on tv. It still wasnt as fun as stealing a baby jesus though.
