Guest whatitistoburn Report post Posted January 19, 2003 Reading through various online posts and occasional references in comics (Exiles for instance), I always see people making fun of the Defenders for various reasons and jokes that I don't understand. All I can really tell you is that the Defenders were a non-team, seemingly made up of whoever they wanted to throw in the book at the time. Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted January 31, 2003 I'll admit I was clueless as to what the Hell this joke about the Defenders is. From what I understand, the joke seems to be the Hulk's nicknames for his fellow Defenders. Hulk, having the mind of a child, would refer to his teammates by child-like names. Dr.Strange was called "Magician" Valkyrie was called "Sword Girl" Nighthawk was called "Bird Nose" and Hellcat was called "Catgirl" This is all I can come up with.
