Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2003 One thought came to me.. I checked out a library book from about 15 years ago that listed freaking rosters from the Chicago All-Star games. Where the College All-Stars would take on the NFL champions. After a few decades of the NFL champs winning (last College win was in 1963 over the 62 Packers) Who would you pick as the Senior (or NFL bound) starters to take on the Super Bowl champions? My picks (sampled from CFN's top ten lists and with healthy seniors or declared juniors): QB: Carson Palmer (USC) starts, Jason Gesser (Wazuu) and Kliff Kingsbury (Tech) show up sometime later to play RB: Larry Johnson (Penn State) and Quentin Griffin (OU) start, Chris Brown (Colorado), Brock Forsey (Boise State) and Michael Turner (Northern Illinois) back him up [and no, Willis will not be healthy in time for a July game, and why would he want to play in it anyways? if he is healed by Benny Hinn in time for the July game, then bump Forsey off and then we get an LJ/Willis backfield] WR: Nate Burelson (Nevada) and J.R. Tolver (San Diego State) start in the game, Charles Rogers (Michigan State) and Shaun MacDonald (Arizona State) back up TE: Dallas Clark (Iowa) starts, Jason Witten (Tennessee) and Trent Smith (OU) play a little bit OT: Eric Steinbech (Iowa) and Jon Stitchcomb (Georgia) with Brent Williams (Florida State) and Kwame Harris (Stanford) as reserves OG: Derrick Dockery (Texas) and Derrick Roche (Washington State) with Todd Wike (Maryland) and Sean Mahan (Notre Dame) as reserves C: Brent Romberg (Miami) with Al Johnson (Wisconsin) as a backup DE: Terrell Suggs (Arizona State), Michael Haynes (Penn State), Cory Redding (Texas) and Jerome McDougle (Miami) with Jaret Johnson (Alabama), Alonzo Jackson (Florida State), Jimmy Kennedy (Penn State) and Colin Cole (Iowa) as reserves LB: EJ Henderson (Maryland), LaMarcus McDonald (TCU) and Gerald Hayes (Pitt) with backup Danitonio Burnette (NCSU), Bradie James (LSU) and Matt Wilhelm (Ohio State) as backups CB: Terrence Newman (Kansas State) and Shane Walton (Notre Dame) with Gerome Sapp (Notre Dame) and Marcus Trufant (Washington State) as backups S: Ken Hamlin (Arkansas) and Terrence Holt (NCSU) with backup Tony Polamalu (USC) PK: Asen Asparuhov (Fresno State) P: Mark Mariscal (Colorado) KR: Charles Pauley (SJSU) and LaShaun Ward (Cal) PR: DeJuan Groce (Nebraska) {EDIT: Team expanded from 42 players to 51 players} ---- So.. are any of my picks illogical, offensive, or just begging for the Super Bowl champs to unload whupass on this team? any other comments? Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted January 19, 2003 No Charles Rogers, Nate Kaeding, William Joseph, Jimmie Kennedy, or Jordan Gross?
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2003 upon checking the declareds list on CFN, I took out Wade and put in Rogers. How about the other four? any more info on them?
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted January 19, 2003 Top of my head. Kennedy and Joseph are DT's from Miami and Penn St. respectively who are potential Top 10 picks. Kaeding won the Groza, and has a very strong leg. Gross from Utah is the Top ranked OT in the draft.
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2003 Kennedy gets on the team after an expansion Kaeding, on checking, is a Junior Gross would barely get on over Harris (who declared for the draft). Remember, alot of this is being done first from CFN's rankings I wanna see the dispute over my QBs. I know Kingsbury is gonna get fried
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted January 19, 2003 I wasn't sure what year Kaeding was in? I just noticed no Byron Leftwhich? You didn't have the overrated Chris Simms which is a good thing.
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2003 Yeah.. Kaeding being a Junior puts him out of the running. Unless he declares for the draft. So I give it to the funny-named guy from Fresno State Leftwich would be #4 but the CFN list is different, here is their list of just Senior QBs: 1- Gesser 2- Palmer 3- Banks 4- Kingsbury 5- Leftwich 6- Marquel Blackwell (South Florida) 7- Dorsey As for Chris Simms. No room for him.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted January 20, 2003 Kyler Boller is supposed to be fairly high draft pick at QB from Cal. What year is Mike Nugent from Ohio St. in, he could be on the team. Also DeJuan Groce from Nebraska is one of the best returners in country.
