Guest Still Fly Report post Posted January 20, 2003 The Raiders win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I swear this win was 18 years in the making for me. Ive gone to hell and back for team. Theyve been blow out, they moved away from me (i lived in LA for a while) and Tony Siragusa pretty much sat on their dreams. It just makes it that much sweeter. This season has been awesome. Titans fans: Ive got to say Steve McNair is a FUCKING MAN. he was awesome today. He gave me fits. It was an awesome game and it makes me glad im a football fan. Guest Kinetic Report post Posted January 20, 2003 Weren't there Philadelphia fans on this board? I seem to recall a few and yet there's been no attempt to explain how their team could possibly let the Tampa Bay Bucs--who, as everyone knows, can't win in cold weather and certainly can't win at the Vet and oh, good golly, I don't know how they got this far without an offense--beat them. Where y'all at, huh? It's time to eat some crow. Cheese-steak eating motherfuckers.

Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted January 20, 2003 I've been a fan of Derrick Brooks since he was at FSU. Brad Johnson comes off has one of the classiest guys in sports. I remember Mike Alstott running right over the Gopher Defense at Purdue. I like Rich Gannon, who by all accounts is a good person. Go Buccs. But I hope Gannon plays well. Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted January 20, 2003 The Raiders are going to annihilate the Bucs come superbowl sunday. VETERAN LEADERSHIP BABY~!
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted January 20, 2003 Yeah because Tampa is such a young team full of nothing but rookies and second year guys. The defenses of Tennesee and the Jets didn't do enough to prepare the Raiders to play a real defense.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted January 20, 2003 Oh, taking nothing away from Tampa Bay, I'm just commenting on how some folks called the Raiders old. Gannon has been getting great protection, too, and is going to be fresh going into the superbowl.

Guest TUS_02 Report post Posted January 20, 2003 Tampa Bay will be your Super Bowl champions... trust me. Just like the Jets were "supposed" to beat the Raiders. Just like McNair was "supposed" to lead the Titans past the Raiders... Not pointing fingers, but a lot of people overlook the Raiders. Granted, more people thought Oakland were going to be Super Bowl then the Bucs, but this was what I picked since mid-season, neither team can, or should overlook the other. The best offense going against the best defense. First team to make a mistake loses, simple as that.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted January 20, 2003 Most people didn't even think the Bucs had a chance going to the Super Bowl this past Sunday.. I don't know many people who thought the Titans were going to beat the Raiders as can seen in the picks. People expect the Raiders to win, and I just don't see it happening. Guest DrTom Report post Posted January 21, 2003 Byron, Tom, AND Peter all picked the Eagles... all I have to say is... FUCK YOU! Oh, bite me. They had never shown they could win in Philly. I didn't buy into the cold weather crap, but all Philly had to do was play the same kind of game they played earlier this season. A shame they didn't even bother trying. Guest DrTom Report post Posted January 21, 2003 Tampa Bay at Philly: I guess the Cold Weather Curse can finally be put to rest. It was an overrated stat for years, but Tony Dungy's poor motivational skills never got the Bucs to look past it. Jon Gruden would hear none of that, though, and sent his team out there to play an excellent game. Gruden called some damn good plays against a damn good defense, taking advantage of Philly's inexplicable lack of blitzing with power runs backed up by passes to exploit the zone. Andy Reid outcoached himself as much as Gruden outcoached him, though. Philly basically abandoned the blitz (I counted two in the first half, IIRC) despite having success against Tampa in the regular season with it, and paid for it as the Bucs ran the ball at the heart of their defense. Reid also abandoned the run as soon as Tampa got on a roll, despite the fact that Duce Staley was averaging over five yards per carry, and it was clear Donovan McNabb was not having a good day. The Bucs were the better prepared team in this matchup, and it was certainly reflected in the final score. Tennessee at Oakland: The Raiders have to be the most undisciplined veteran team I've ever seen. Their tendency to take stupid penalties was on display again Sunday. However, the Raiders have an offense that allows them to overcome their dirty play and occasional lapses of reason. Tennessee, when it was bitten by the stupid penalty bug, learned they have no such offense. Rich Gannon played like an MVP, protecting the ball, running when he needed to, and working all his weapons into the game. It's a shame only Steve McNair really showed up for the Titans' offense. Eddie George tends to torch the Raiders, but he wasn't given many carries, despite finding success against the Oakland D yet again. McNair shouldered the load for everyone yet again, playing like an MVP in his own right. In the end, Tennessee's bout of turnovers near the end of the first half proved fatal, as the Raiders' offense overcame the Steve McNair show the rest of the way. I think Tampa wins the Super Bowl. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted January 21, 2003 The people who said the Jets would win(outside of Jets fans) were simply caught up in the Jets hype and didn't actually compare the teams equally. Anyone who looked at the teams equally and didn't buy into the hype knew the Raiders would pull the win out. There weren't very many people saying that the Titans would beat the Raiders. The only thing people here were saying was how you can't count out McNair and that it will be a good game.
