Guest The Hamburglar Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 Hey, didn't City of God come out over in the US this week-end? Its been out a few weeks over here in the UK, and I urge absolutely everyone to go and see this fantastic Brazilian film. A true masterpiece, and better than anything I saw last year. If its playing near you, run to the cinemas. This is not hyperbole.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 I will not comment on the other 2 New Releases, but I just want to know Why...The...Hell Is Kangaroo Jack #1 ? Look at the rest of the movies in the top ten. Is a parent going to take a 6-year old kid to see anything else on there? Maybe Two Towers, but that's been out for over a month now. It fills a hole in the market, and people thus flock to it like...things that flock.
Guest wwF1587 Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 Kangaroo Jack is absolute crap.. i went to it only because someone gave me tickets free... my 10 year old borther liked it but... oh well

Guest Youth N Asia Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 UGH...the thoughts of a rapping Kangaroo and Martain "I hate whitey" Lawrence topping the box office suddenly gives me the urge to shit blood
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 Um..I still want to know just how in the hell Kangaroo Jack made 17 Million.
Guest CanadianChris Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 Box Office Top 10: 1 Kangaroo Jack $17,675,000/$17,675,000 Dat's fucked up.
Guest El Satanico Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 I figured it would do good so no surprises here. Like someone said it fills the family movie void that we've had for over a month. I can't remember the last family friendly movie, but i know it's been awhile.
Guest Vyce Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Can someone please explain to my how it is the kangaroo can talk and / or rap?
Guest Mattdotcom Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 According to every BAD review I've read of that movie, the kangaroo only talks/raps in the trailers. So people went to see a movie about a talking/rapping kangaroo and got a NON-talking/rapping kangaroo. Too bad that's all they got...
Guest Mole Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 I just noticed that Gangs if out of the top ten. No more defending that movie, looks like a disappointment.
Guest The Electrifyer Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 According to every BAD review I've read of that movie, the kangaroo only talks/raps in the trailers. So people went to see a movie about a talking/rapping kangaroo and got a NON-talking/rapping kangaroo. Too bad that's all they got... From watching Letterman, it seems that the Kangaroo only raps in a dream sequence.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 I just noticed that Gangs if out of the top ten. No more defending that movie, looks like a disappointment. two more cents 11 (8) Gangs of New York M'MAX $4,100,000 $61,000,000 12 (7) Maid In Manhattan SONY $3,100,000 $88,356,000 Gangs dropped 3 spots and Main in Manhatted dropped 5.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 I wish Ashton Kucher or however you spell his name would drop off of the face of the Earth. He's really not entertaining in anything, and is really just around to fill the "hot guy who has an artificially goofy side" niche. And, for the record, "I hate whitey" humor RULES. To quote Mr. Simpson, "It's funny because it's true!"
Guest Lethargic Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 I just noticed that Gangs if out of the top ten. No more defending that movie, looks like a disappointment. The scary thing is that it's still in over 2000 theaters. While Chicago is in a little over 500, Schmidt is 900 something and the Hours is in 400 and they all made more money somehow. I just hope Confessions of a Dangerous Mind does well this week. God, I've waited for that movie for years and years and it's finally only 4 days a way. Of course, I tend to doubt it will actually play near me so I'll probably be forced to download it.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 And, for the record, "I hate whitey" humor RULES. To quote Mr. Simpson, "It's funny because it's true!" Sure, in small doses, like Chris Rock does...but that's all Lawrence seems to have going for him these days. (at least Rock's funny)
Guest jimmy no nose Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Weren't people predicting very, very low numbers for Kangaroo Jack in the thread last week? I wasn't even sure which movie it was, but from hearing about it in here, I do remember seeing a commercial once or twice. It looked really dumb.
Guest Maven's Eyebrows Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 From what I've seen of the trailers, Kangaroo Jack could very well be the best movie ever made... (You know what's coming)... ...for me to poop on!
Guest Ravenbomb Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 it sucks that Gangs isn't doing good. WHY AREN'T YOU PEOPLE WATCHING THAT MOVIE YOU TASTELESS BASTARDS?!?!
LaParkaYourCar Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 And, for the record, "I hate whitey" humor RULES. To quote Mr. Simpson, "It's funny because it's true!" (at least Rock's funny) Thing about Chris Rock is he makes fun of Black people just as much.
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 Um..I still want to know just how in the hell Kangaroo Jack made 17 Million. I'm no longer suprised by the mindless stupidity of the american public.
Guest Mattdotcom Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 From watching Letterman, it seems that the Kangaroo only raps in a dream sequence. Yeah, I saw that too and IMO, Letterman>Entertainment Weekly.
Guest What? Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 it sucks that Gangs isn't doing good. WHY AREN'T YOU PEOPLE WATCHING THAT MOVIE YOU TASTELESS BASTARDS?!?! I agree fully, my friend...
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 There hasn't been a movie to come out in a while that I wanted to see... and this week I get two! Confessions of a Dangreous Mind and Darkness Falls (leave me alone. I like my bad horror films dammit)
Guest Lethargic Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 I've waited all these years for Confessions of a Dangerous mind, it finally comes out tomorrow and I can't go because for the first time in about 5 years I'm actually snowed in. God is always punishing me.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 "According to every BAD review I've read of that movie, the kangaroo only talks/raps in the trailers. Damn, that misleading trailer is approaching WWE levels for disappointing payoffs...
