Guest areacode212 Report post Posted March 10, 2002 So, do any of you have food allergies, and what happens when you try to eat the food in question? I'm allergic to a lot of fruits, such as apples, cherries and kiwi fruit. This really blows, because they're tasty fruits (I know I said in the "cherry gum" thread that I hate cherry-flavored crap, but real ones are good). When I eat them, my lips and gums start to swell and itch, and my eyes get all watery. It's pretty annoying. But the other day, I was at a conference, and was given a really plump apple as part of a boxed lunch. And since it looked so good, I decided it would be worth the pain later, and bit into it...and nothing happened. Then I took another bite, and another, until I had finished the apple. And I was fine. Do allergies just go away like that?
Guest starvenger Report post Posted March 11, 2002 Allergies can eventually go away, but never "just like that". Myself, I'm somewhat lactose intolerant - I can drink skim milk and eat cheese but that's about it.
