Guest EricMM Report post Posted January 20, 2003 I dunno if I should put this here or Current Events Monty's rant was the most Un-PC thing I've seen in a movie in foreeeeeeever. Did anyone else see it? I personally liked it a lot, and I thought it was the most "New York" movie to come out in some time.
Guest MDH257 Report post Posted January 20, 2003 Really good movie, but every now and then Spike had to stop the movie in its tracks to make a reference to Sept. 11. The opening of the film, with the blue lights at the WTC, was really good. But every other reference just seemed out of place. Sept. 11 had nothing to do with the plot of the film. It just seemed liked Spike made sure he brought up a couple of times just so he can say he didn't ignore it. But the opening took care of that and the rest felt needless. It didn't bother me or take away from the movie that much, but I just get aggrivated seeing Richard Roeper review the movie on tv and talkiing about how brave Spike Lee is for setting the movie in post 9/11 New York. I did like the movie a lot though. Unfortunatly I was sitting in a packed theater infront of a group of Maxim/Man Show/Craig Killborn type guys in their twenties who clapped during a part of Monty's rant (when he said 'fuck the queers') and laughed when Barry Pepper cries at the end of the movie. Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted January 20, 2003 I saw it and while Monty's rant was definitely not PC, it was just a rehash of a similar scene from Do The Right Thing where all the races go on name-calling diatribes against the other races. I did enjoy the part (being a black man myself) about the brothers playing basketball and taking 5 steps on every move when they drive through the lane. Hahahaha. Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted January 22, 2003 I enjoyed it, but it's not the kind of film I'll talk about with friends or feel the need to watch again anytime soon.
