Rumble Questions

Recommended Posts

Guest Whatmaniac

1.If WWE management was so unhappy with the Steiner-HHH match, then why didn't they change the finish so that HHH goes over cleanly rather than have a dq to set up a rematch? I don't think anyone want's to see Steiner in the main event after that debacle.

2.Why did the WWF give the tag titles to Regal and Storm if they were just going to job them to the Dudley Doyz? If they wanted to change the titles, why not simply do Booker T and Goldust vs. the Dudleyz?

3.During the Rumble itself, shouldn't the HBK run-in waited until near the end?

4.Is it just me or does the whole HBK/Y2J feud seem horribly contrived?

5.Why are the bookers continuing to push Taker at this stage of his career? He can't draw money, is so bad in the ring that even Kurt Angle has trouble carrying him, and he seems to go out of his way to make other people look bad.

1. Cause it would kill Steiner right then and there. I don't like him, but they're trying to get him over as a main eventer.

2. Faces never seem to lose the belts to faces anymore.

3. Yeah, everyone saw it coming a mile away, probably best they got it over with sooner the let my hopes up for a Jericho upset.

4. Testify!

5. Probably cause he's the only long timer who's stayed loyal to the company.

Supposedly the original finish was HHH over Steiner quickly, but Steiner had been getting good reactions until the 12 minute mark of last night's match, so they wanted to keep the iron hot.

That would be face vs. face, and WWE doesn't like to do that unless they'll make huge money off of it (like Rock-Austin from WMX7 or Hogan-Warrior from WMVI).

3.During the Rumble itself, shouldn't the HBK run-in waited until near the end?

That would make Jericho look better and we can't have that, but I'd agree with it.

4.Is it just me or does the whole HBK/Y2J feud seem horribly contrived?

No comment because I'm not sure what anybody else is thinking.

But he still gets a pretty good pop and, with the exception of Montreal, Vince tends to reward loyalty.

1. No one knew or expected the reaction that was given. Besides, you can't judge the popularity by one city. Kind of like Rock, before he left again, was booed in New York, but cheered elsewhere

2. I can't make sense of this either... a part of me hopes that this is going to lead to a Booker T singles push, but I doubt we'll see that for a while.

3. Yes... I still can't believe they didn't have Jericho last until the very end. It would've been much more dramatic to have had a Jericho/Brock standoff with HBK running in at the very and and costing Jericho the match. Now THAT would've made people want to see a match between the two

4. No not really. I was enjoying it until last night

5. Because people still care about Taker. He still gets a pop, and he still has a fan following. You can say he doesn't draw, but guess what? Taker draws about as much as Kurt Angle, the SD champion. He draws just as much as everyone else on the main event scene with the exception of Brock who from what I hear, is the actual potential money maker. As for his ring skills... he's more carryable (sp?) than you give him credit for. His match with Kurt Angle on SD last year, the match where Taker tapped out and Angle was pinned, was really good, and was the best I've seen taker actually wrestle in a long long time.

They were trying to get Kronik over as major players just a few years ago and they got fired after one bad PPV match. I don't see why this is any different

4. Testify!

Will they have their big match at NWO in Montreal, or at Wrestlemania where a babyface HBK will be cheered? Thats what I would like to know.

Billy Gunn and Hardcore Holly were loyal company men for a long time as was Mideon and I don't recall any of them getting the consistent push that Taker has gotten.

You cannot be serious in comparing Gunn and Holly to the freakin' Undertaker

Why not, they have been loyal company men almost as long as the Undertaker, and Billy Gunn has met the qualifcations for being a "hoss" since 1998. Both are far more talented than the Undertaker and probably draw as much money, yet their loyalty has not resulted in main-events for either man. I just don't buy company loyalty as a credible reason for keeping Mr. Calloway in the main-event.
