Guest Youth N Asia Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Ok...Burt and Ernie are definatly gay. They bathe together for crying out loud. I think Lenny and Carl might have dabbled...but I'm not ready to call them gay...that one I'm just not sure on. Any input on this enlightening topic?
Guest Eagan469 Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Lenny's most definately gay - we don't know about Carl...yet Bert & Ernie - 2 guys living together, one's anal-retentive, the other just likes to take baths Do the math
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Teasing that Lenny and Carl are gay is a joke with the Simpsons. That's why they do so over the top jokes with it like when Carl carved Lenny's face in a mountain. I think officially they are not. Now, Smithers is as gay a picnic basket.
Guest Mattdotcom Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Smithers is not gay. He's Burnsexual.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 It was the other way around, Deacon. Lenny carved Carl's face in a mountain. And is it Carl or Karl? They seem to switch back and forth all the time.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 My fault, thanks RatsMilk. I think I usually see it as Carl, but they do use it with a K at times. I would say that's just a typo.
Guest Bricks Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Remember the Behind The Laughter episode. Bart paid them to kiss, but they didn't get paid. But I remember in a SuperBowl episode, Carl said he was going to give his SuperBowl ring to his wife since it was their anniversary. So Carl = Married. Lenny = Doesn't care that Carl's married.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Wasn't Lenny shaving is wifes legs when Homer wanted a Boys Nights out, on the Thelma and Luise episode.
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 It's not his wife because we know he's single from the "Listen Lady" episode where he confesses to Marge that he's not married and wonders if he should tell Carl.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 The Simpsons has never exactly been up for any continuity awards. Reference the Carl/Karl discrepancy earlier in the thread.
Guest LaParkaMarka Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 I'm pretty sure Lenny is gay but Carl isn't. Besides, how awesome were they in the avalanche episode? Lenny - We made it, all thanks to teamwork! Carl - Yeah, my teamwork.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 In reality, neither of them is REALLY gay, as the Simpsons only has two gay characters (not counting the gay episode), that being, Smithers and the other Karl, whose name is definitely spelled with a K. Objectively though, Lenny is far gayer than Carl.
Guest Mole Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 I don't think we will ever know if they are gay. It will just be an on-going joke that we will never know. Just like we will never know what state they are in.

The Bert and Ernie thing has been debated for a while, and as far as I know the official word is no. Besides which, Ernie seems to have a thing going on with Rubber Duckie...
Guest Slapnuts00 Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Maybe I just haven't been completely corrupted, but is it so far out of the realm of possibility that Burt and Ernie are simply good friends that teach lessons about sharing and living peacefully with one another on a show targetted to 4 year olds?

That's exactly what they are. But this is the internet, so....
Guest Ravenbomb Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 how about the green and yellow Telletubbies? One has a 'finger' on top of his head, the other has a donut, do the math...
Guest What? Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 Wasn't it revealed that the Simpson's live in Ohio in the "Behind the Laughter" episode? Anyway, I'll tell you who really is gay...Archie and Jughead. Burt and Ernie? No...just good friends Lenny and Carl? The same... Archie and Jughead? They're flaming like the Springfield Tire Fire. It's true.

It's true. When I saw Behind the Laughter I heard Kentucky...they might have done a dozen or so of those. Lenny and Carl...I'm saying not gay. But very curious about one another. Burt and Ernie...yeah, still gay.
Guest El Satanico Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 Behind The Laughter never said what state the show takes place in. I believe there were some sight gags about it where they started to show it but then at last minute something stopped it.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 I heard Kentucky, others heard other states. I think it was just more of the running gag. They have said if you piece together all the clues you can figure it out, but I've never bothered. And yeah, Archie and Jughead are flamers. That's why Jughead wears that crown-looking hat. He's the king of Queen Archie's life.
Guest starvenger Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 And yeah, Archie and Jughead are flamers. That's why Jughead wears that crown-looking hat. He's the king of Queen Archie's life. Well, Archie's had that love triangle with Betty and Veronica, so I'd say that he swings both ways, and probably wouldn't be adverse to a big ol' orgy. Jughead though? I don't see how he couldn't be gay...
Guest Ravenbomb Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 They don't live in any actual state. In the Barney Sobers Up episode, Bart and Lisa go into the mountains to take a picture in hopes of getting it on the new phone book, Bart says 'You can see the whole state from here!' and you see the Arch and some stuff from other states.
Guest bob_barron Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 In the behind the laughter episode- they changed the name of the state in each rerun
Guest Vern Gagne Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Well, Archie's had that love triangle with Betty and Veronica, so I'd say that he swings both ways, and probably wouldn't be adverse to a big ol' orgy. Jughead though? I don't see how he couldn't be gay... If Archie wasn't trying to get those 2 fine pieces of ass in a little 3-way action... than there's no doubt Archie was batting cleanup for the other team.
Guest Sassquatch Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 Aren't Burt and Ernie supposed to be toddlers?
Guest Redhawk Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 Lenny and Carl -- They are straight. I recall at least one episode where they were both hitting on Marge. She pulled up in the car and called them perverts. Bert and Ernie -- They're gay. They were supposed to be adults, and they bathed together? And, yes, the show is targetted to 4-year-olds, but remember it's made by 30-year-olds who make shows for 4-year-olds. The same group of people who make Disney movies, and you know how sexual the Disney stuff is. Archie and Jughead -- No way they're gay. Jughead doesn't like Ethel, but he's crushed on a few girls if I remember right. And of cours Archie's got two chicks on his sack. Simpsons live in --- Not sure, but does anyone remember the episode where they vacation in Florida and kill the alligator? At the end they had a mp of the USA, with all the states they'd been kicked out of marked. So they have to live in one of the non-marked states. I remember Washington was one.
