Guest NoCalMike Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 there is like a sensor light that tracks movement. It runs really smooth. I like it. I am wondering if anyone knows the shelf life of this type of mouse. If they light burns out, do you need a new one?
Guest MrRant Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 If you do an optical mouse is only 15 or so bucks. I've had mine for a year and no probs.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 I had a logitech optical mouse and it worked for me for 2 years until I won a wireless logitech optical mouse and keyboard which Im now using.. Optical mice rule, since they can be used on just about any surface (except mirrors and highly reflective glass) and can even be used vertically on a wall (I've tried!) and upside down. The only two things are that you need to make sure the laser doesn't get any dirt near it and not to leave your comp in standby mode since the laser will stay lit.. (tried that too).
Guest DrTom Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 I'm fairly certain that USB optical mice get their power from the PC, thru the USB port. They should have a pretty good shelf life, since they lack the moving parts of a ball mouse, and there's no battery to deplete.
Guest Dr. Wrestlingphysics Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 I have a USB optical mouse, and have had for nearly two years without any problems whatsoever.
Guest Eagan469 Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 Logitech USB optical here, for about 2 years now - no problems at all
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 I've got one too, used it for about six months, works like a charm on the arm of a chair.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 I've had my Logitech laser gimmick mouse for about 2 weeks now. So far it's working great, and I won't get a ball mouse again
Guest CED Ordonez Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 Also have a Logitech optical and I've had it for six months now. No problems and no having to clean out gunk that clogs up a ball mouse. If this thing dies in two years, hell, it was still a good investment.
Guest crandamaniac Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 I had one for about a year, and it worked till something happened and it just started freaking out on me and I had to get another one.
