Piper/Killings Shoot

The following are highlights from WrestleZone Radio''s interview with "Rowdy" Roddy Piper! The interview was conducted by Matt Boone and Ryan Clark on January 21st, 2003!

- Piper said for us to hold nothing back, and his first question was "did you use Owen Hart''s death to promote your book on a PPV?" He answered it in complete detail, and explained that he was Owen and Bret''s cousin, and that he did serious soul-searching afterwards and came to the conclusion that if Owen himself had been alive, he wouldn''t have been offended by what he did.

- Piper explained why he has legitimate beef with Honky Tonk Man dating back to him pulling out of a house show that Piper worked on as creative consultant. He said he asked Honky how much he wanted to do the show, Honky himself suggessted $500.00 and an airplane ticket, and the deal was set. After finding out some other guys on the show made more, Honky faxed Piper and informed him that the amount he was being paid was insulting and backed out of the show after his name had already been advertised.

- Piper heard the story about how Buff Bagwell talked trash about Matt Boone, and decided to share a nice story about his time working with Buff in WCW. He said the two were to do a promo together, got together backstage to go over it, and Bagwell suggessted they just improvise. Piper said he immediately knew what Buff thought, "old guy" and was prepared for it. When the promo came, Piper asked Buff why he never main-evented at Madison Square Garden? Buff quickly used his old-age comeback by saying, "I wasn''t even born yet!" Piper simply told him on live television that he hasn''t been at Madison Square Garden, let alone main-evented at MSG as Piper has done several times, because that''s where main-event players go. Then Piper shared a laugh with the hosts when he was informed Buff had reduced himself to selling a 5 minute telephone conversation with himself on eBay.

- Roddy Piper then talked about his upcoming taped promo that will air on this coming Wednesday night''s NWA-TNA pay-per view. When asked if it would be as controversial and create as much buzz as his last appearance, Piper simply said, "you ain''t seen nothing yet."

- Piper then finally got to the big announcement he had to break on our show. The big announcement was that is he lacing up his wrestling boots once more and is negotiating to have a tag-team match featuring himself tagging with Genichiro Tenryu and taking on the combination of Hulk Hogan and Bill Goldberg. He said he plans on doing two matches, that''s one of them, and the other which he couldn''t talk about, would be just as momunmental.

The following are highlights from Xtreme Mayhem''s interview with Ron "The Truth" Killings! The interview was conducted by Mike Nagel and Jeff Meacham on January 20th, 2003. Visit http://xtreme.themayhem.com/ to listen to the streaming audio or downloadable version of the interview!

- Killings said he would like to see Goldberg come to TNA. He has heard various rumors about Goldberg possibly joining either WWE or TNA.

- He enjoys working for TNA very much because it gives him and other wrestlers a chance to show off their skills since many of them never had an opportunity to do so in WWE.

- He thinks he could have gotten to the point he is at now without "The Truth" gimmick.

- Personally, he thinks Vince Russo is a great guy who is down to earth and is always career-oriented and is always coming up with creative ideas. Despite what others think, Killings still considers Russo the best writer in the business.

- He called his NWA TNA Title win a blessing in disguise and the highlight of his career so far. Despite being "aligned" with Jeff Jarrett, he hopes to have another shot at the belt against Jarrett.

- He has been made offers from All Japan and other overseas promotions. He might be doing some future shows for XPW.

- He is a friend of D-Lo Brown and wishes WWE luck with the current racial storyline they have with D-Lo. However, he says nobody can do that role as good as him.

- In regards to the WWE''s creative staff, he says there is a big "f*ck-up" there because they have way too many people on the roster, and the best talent aren''t the ones being focused on. He said there was a lot of "favortism and bullshit" in the wrestling business. He said the amount of politics in the wrestling business is pathetic and he plans to write about it someday.

- He works out about 4-5 days a week and spends at least 2-3 hours each day in the gym. He works every part of his body that he doesn''t have a muscle in.

- After Road Dogg and Brian Christopher got released, himself and Scotty 2 Hotty wanted to form a tag-team, but WWE rejected it and he doesn''t know why.

- He said Vince McMahon was a very smart businessman. He owes Vince a lot because Vince was the first one to give him a break.

- He said Brian Lawler (Christopher) was down to earth and funny as hell.

- He said Jim Ross was a cool guy but needed to loosen up a little.

- He said that New York fans were the hardest to please because they''ve seen it all.

- Despite the stories about him, Scott Hall was one of the best guys you would want to meet. He has respect for Hall because Hall pulled him aside and gave advice in the business.

- He feels that the NWA will continue to grow in 2003. They are expanding with television in other countries.

Good read. Thanks a lot for posting. I'm glad to hear that Piper is planning to return for one big match and it sounds like a pretty good and legendary one.

I'm looking forward to his comments on tomorrows TNA show.

Piper once again shows he's still delusional. He has zero chance of tagging with Tenryu against anyone, let alone Hogan and Goldberg.

That's right.

Those kinds of jobs are reserved for Kronik.

Doesn't that make it worse?

I know who Kronik is...and I want them as far away as possible.

For that matter...I don't like Piper either...so I guess everyone loses.

Piper and Tenryu against Hogan and Goldberg..............riiiiight.

I would assume that the other match he is talking about would have to be something in the NWA-TNA, I'd like to see Russo-Piper myself but I doubt that will happen.

Why does everyone assume this isn't going to happen?

Well first off, Hogan is back in the WWE.

Second, Tenyru is pretty picky what he does these days (rightfully so)......so I can't see him even coming close to wanting to work with any of these guys.

And Goldberg is deep in negotiations with the WWE, but he is the only person of the four that I could see as a possibility here.
