Some Beatles song questions

I'm too lazy to look these up, but what Beatles albums were these songs from:

 

1. "In My Life"

2. "Revolution" (Not Revolution 1 or 9, which were on the White Album, just Revolution)

3. "Help!"

"In My Life" is on Rubber Soul. "Help" is on, well, Help.

 

As for "Revolution," you be crazy. "Revolution 1" *is* "Revolution," unless you want the heavier electric one, which was released as a single and can be found on Past Masters Vol. 2.

(btw the single version of Revolution is by far the superior version... the only good thing that the White Album version had to offer was the shoo bee doo bee's)

The single version of "Revolution" can also be found on the blue greatest hits double album. I'd agree that it's the superior version and I really don't understand why it wasn't put on the proper album. Other than the "count me out...in" thing.

Hey, what's the title of the Beatles track that starts out with something like "Saw the news today, oh boy," and ends with this neat cadence on the piano.

 

I've heard a lot of Beatles material via a couple friends, but know next to nothing about their material, and have always regarded them with respect, while at the same time being casually indifferent. That track's damn catchy though, and I dig it quite a bit. The good classic rock station around here plays it quite a bit, but never bothers to say what it's called.

Happiness is Warm Gun- I have two U2 covers of that song. It's on their Best of 1990-2000 CD

I detest Strawberry Fields. The only other Beatles material I really have much of an affinity towards would have to be While my Guitar Gently Weeps, and Daytripper.

 

Their more experimental material grows on me a bit now and then, but their screaming girls pop-rock era cancels that out.

I really get bugged by people dismissing the early Beatles work as just "dumb pop love songs" (And that includes when Lennon himself rags on his early work). I'll be damned if someone says that "A Hard Day's Night" (album AND song) doesn't rank as one of the best albums in music. Period.

 

Quite honestly I listen to the early work more often than the later stuff. There best work came around Help/Rubber Soul/Revolver- the perfect mix of pop music and infusing it with new vibes. Of course one of my fav Beatles tunes currently is "I Want You (She's So Heavy)." It has the same riff and lyrics repeated over and over for 7 minutes, but there's emotion behind it that I just love.

"You've got to hide you love away" is one of the best songs Lennon put out with the Beatles. Totally agree that there's far more depth to Beatles' early work than meets the eye.
