I remember someone posted here....I think it was Downhome, about some guy with an African type of name requesting help from him. He wanted to transport money to the U.S. This was scam, and they were successful. They got over $200,000 dollars from people in the U.S alone. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Some personal experiences: A few years ago a friend of mine got a multi-hundred dollar phone bill because some Nigerian phone-sex line connected him via the Internet. When Newsweek did some story about AIDS and Africa, some organization saying they were an aid agency urged donations. Turns out it was a farce. (I may have some specifics wrong because this happened a few years ago.) Another friend of mine got an email a few months ago from some "lawyer" from Nigeria saying that she had a dead relative over there that left her a bunch of money and that he could get it to her -- for a fee.
