Bunion to keep Vick out of Pro Bowl

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Falcons quarterback Michael Vick will not play in the Pro Bowl next week because he needs to have a bunion removed.

Vick will miss the Feb. 2 game in Hawaii and remain in Atlanta to have a podiatrist take the bunion off his foot, team spokesman Aaron Salkin said Thursday.

Vick joined Dan Marino, Brett Favre, Kurt Warner, Daunte Culpepper and Tom Brady as the only second-year quarterbacks to make the Pro Bowl in their first full season as a starter.

In his first season as a starter, Vick led the Falcons to a 10-7-1 record. Atlanta advanced to the playoffs for the first time in four years, becoming the only visiting team to win a postseason game at Green Bay. They lost to Philadelphia the following week.

Vick rushed for 777 yards, the third-best single-season by a quarterback in NFL history. He completed 54.9 percent of 421 passes for 2,936 yards. He threw for 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

I've always felt that The Super Bowl should be two weeks after the Championship Games. In the week inbetween, the Pro Bowl should happen from the location of the Super Bowl. Anyone who'll play in the big game won't be in the Pro Bowl. Just my two centeroonies.

Why not play Sat. Night? It wouldn't make a difference, the game means nothing, it's really just another reward package for the Best players...A free all expense paid Trip to Hawaii.

Dear God No. Hearing about the same things over and over, for 1 week is bad enough. 2 weeks was pure hell.

Shows you how important the Pro Bowl is, huh? "Oh, I'd go but I'm getting my bunions tended to." I heard Tony Gonzalez is missing the game because his wife wants to go shopping.

Anyway, about the Super Bowl: I used to think two weeks in between the conference title games and the SB was good, but now it would suck. The media has become such a monster that we'd all be sick and tired of Tampa and Oakland by the time the game happened. If I hear "Gruden Bowl" one more time...
