MK is kind of a laughing stock right now.  I really want this game to be good.  I loved MK1 and then MK2 was one of my all-time favorite games.  MK3 and MK4 have basically sucked real bad.

This trailer does not impress me all that much though.  The spot at the end is cool but no real battle is shown so it's hard to say exactly how the game will play

i dont know, mortal kombat has seemed to become a parody of itself, it was basically so popular because of the gore, but once that became commonplace noone bothered with it anymore, and then they went to the capcom fighters

That's because it's so slow compared to the Capcom fighter. I'm used to bouncing around the screen like a Mexican Jumping Bean. When I play MK I'm like "So slow.........please faster....."

I've always been curious about why people like MK and MK II the most when it wasn't until MK3 when the gameplay got fast and had more to it than basic 3 hit corner juggles.

There are some details about MK:DA besides that movie. Weapons are confirmed to be back, the control system is completely different, there will be multitiered interactive backgrounds, clothes will rip and people will bleed in the middle of fights, everyone will have multiple fighting styles(like Lei in Tekken or Gen in SF?) and 8 characters are confirmed so far. Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile, Sonya, Jax, Raiden, Shang Tsung and Quan Chi.

All of them have been popular. 4 wasn't as big as the others, but it still did well and got pretty good reviews.

MK hasn't been that slow since 3. It's not as fast as Capcom's Versus games but it's up there with the Alpha and III games. Don't you run?

Yeah I run. But I like to move really fast. Like bounce around the screen like a jumping bean. I like to move extremely fast.

What the #### is up with this forum?

Anyway, I can't speak for anyone else, but I liked MK2 the most because it had everything you could want from a sequel. Play as Reptile and Shang Tsung! More stage fatalities! A cool (and logical) storyline for each character!  The character designs were good and the game just had a certain badass quality to it.

MK3, on the other hand had a lot of cheesy comedy elements (fatalities that were played for laughs, stupid & annoying friendships), a storyline that read like it was something Ed Boon came up with in 20 seconds, lame character designs (a riot cop that looks like Al Bundy?), smaller characters, and a general lack of attention to detail (in several fatalities, where you get chopped up or blown up or whatever, why is it that dozens of arms & legs & ribcages fly out of your body?).

Yeah, gameplay-wise, it added the run button and the dial-a-combos, which sped up gameplay and made things more interesting, but MK2 just had a better atmosphere and was more fun.

I hated MK4. I didn't like the idea of having weapons in the game, and the characters looked like moving action figures. Not to mention the fact that they nerfed Sonya's leg grab (my favorite move from MK 3). But when it came out, I was too busy (still) playing Tekken 3, so I didn't get to play MK4 enough to really work up some hatred for it.
