If Jricho hadn't sunken down a little, would he be above Angle?

 

Is Goldust in there for lack of anyone better or for the improvement he's made? because while he certainly has gotten much better, I'd say booker and Edge outrank him. Goldy is still like top 15 right now though.

I agree totally with Wolverine. Hell I'd put Austin up ahead of Kurt Angle even. The guy is damn good there's no denying it. I can't wait till the top guy in the company is a good wrestler again as opposed to the steroid freak we have now.

1. Again, bias comes into place when putting Guerrero on top. I simply enjoy him in the ring more than anyone else. Benoit is probably the altogether best, but I just can't bring myself to see it that way. Maybe I unconsciously enjoy Guerrero more than Benoit because of his charisma.

 

2. Nope, Jericho isn't on Angle's level. Jericho can be really good, but Angle can be better than that.

 

3. Edge is terribly boring and menotonous in all his matches. There has been exceptions when Angle and Guerrero has fought him. Edge is just going through the motions now, and has wrestled the same match since he fought Angle at Unforgiven. Booker T hasn't done much in a long while. His act has also gotten stale as his matches all climax with a spinerooni. I like Goldust's more technical, less flasy style. His gimmick is one the greatest ever, so again, that bias carries over in my decision.

 

4. Cena is flat-out the best part of the WWE programming right now. As a hip hop fan, his rhymes are hilarious. Its funny that a wrestler is a better MC then most top 40 rappers. Plus, his wrestling skills aren't bad. I think with proper mentoring and tutoring from Guerrero, Benoit, and Angle - this guy could be a MAJOR star. He has the charisma, looks, and passable wrestling ability. This time next year he'll be a major player in the company.

Austin is god, and he's off the booze and working out, so I'll probably rank him 4th the minute he gets back, yeah. I think he's above the top three in terms of charisma, but they're all streets ahead physically, of course. Considering his injuries he's great.

 

and AS, whilst booker and edge have certainly had more 'success' than goldust, I'm certain he's a superior worker than both.

 

I agree with Banky about Cena, whether you like him or not you need great mic skills to rap for over a minute, or the entire time you commentate on a match.

 

And I know I'm get laughed out of here, but seriously, Nowinski could be an awesome heel in a year or so.

While Cena's gimmick is good for a lowly midcarder, you don't get to be a main eventer by biting off of P.N. News...

 

As for Austin, injured or not, when he's on, he is ON and that puts him way ahead of Angle as far as I'm concerned and just under Eddy and Benoit. In fact, I'd probably rate Booker and Rey ahead of Angle as well.

I disagree. While very carryable when facing Angle or Jericho, he's an absolute fucking mess against anyone else. If you don't want to blame Brock for that mess of a match they had, then Cena must be blamed.

ROTFLMAO! Nowinski would become my favorite instantly with that! I agree with Saturnmark too, I think Nowinski could become a great worker with time. He reminds me of Jericho in the sense that their styles can come off awkward at times but there is rough promise there.

 

As for 4th best worker, I think I'll go with Rey Mysterio at this point. Jericho is a better total package but his style doesn't mix well with everyone you would expect him to have a good match with. (Austin in May/June 2001 and No Way Out 2002 spring to my mind.) I'll witthold judgement on Austin until he comes back. If he is in 2001 form, I'd put him at #4 in a heartbeat.

His match against Chavo a few weeks back was solid. My prediction: John Cena will be the next star to go Hollywood. To be even bolder, he'll be the next Rock. He has the body, the looks, and the charisma. In 6 months, he'll be so polular he'll turn face and will get a significant push. Then, he'll drop the rapper gimmick and be over. This guy has it all.

Definitly he can improve. He's nowhere near any of the top stars but you have to admit there are signs of potential. Putting him in a ring with Eddie and Chavo will make a man out of him.

Yeah, when carried, the guy can have some really good matches. That shows that with some work, he can definately get better and become really good.

Well, when you break them down, they both have the same tendencies(weak selling at times, good-to-great bumping, poor transitions, and quirky offense). So yeah, he's pretty justified in his rankings of both guys.

I agree that Austin was at fault at No Way Out but I remember the two of them not working real well in singles matches in May or June of 2001 either. It just seemed awkward. Like they couldn't get on the same page. (It was the week after the 2 Austin/Benoit classics.)

If one guys head isn't in a match, it can greatly affect the match. Austin didn't look into the match at all.
