Guest RobJohnstone Report post Posted January 26, 2003 Man, mayorga really gave it to forrest ala tyson in the 80's. Top top it off the guy smokes a stoge after the fight. If I were forrest I would be very afraid for the rematch. That guy can kill him. --Rob
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted January 26, 2003 Sharmba Mitchell did a similar job to his opponent on Showtime, which looks like it's either going to set up Mitchell/Tszyu or Mitchell/Judah, either of which would be an excellent fight. Mayorga was way too aggressive, and took Forrest out of his game, which was a fatal mistake. The first round knockdown was horseshit, though. The KO wasn't. Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted January 26, 2003 I think Vernon Forrest main problem was that he overlooked Mayorga. He figured "Hey, if I could manhandle Shane Mosley 2 times in a row, I could handle this Nobody" Same thing happened during Hasim Rahman/ Lennox Lewis 1. Lewis came into the Fight thinking Rahman was a Nobody and got knocked out, although we know what happen in the Rematch. I do think that Sugar Shane could handle Mayorga if they fought each other. Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted January 27, 2003 I don't. Mosley's damaged goods now, after being embarassed twice in a row by Forrest. He's a sharp puncher, but Mayorga looked REALLY impressive in that fight. He got Vernon off his gameplan early and finished brilliantly. The Welterweight division is so stacked now that it completely blows the heavies right out of the water. I'm looking forward to Jones running circles around Ruiz and beating his ass, though. Tyson/Etienne is coming up as well, which should be a fun little slaughter.
