The story talked about how WWE was using video clips where Jones, who was convicted of armed robbery in 1989 and spent a total of eight years in prison, was referred to in news reels by his nickname of "The Colossus of Boggo Road". The story also wrote that Jones "initially won fame for ripping cell doors off their hinges and snapping handcuffs. It once took 10 prison guards to restrain him when he went berserk in Hobart's Risdon jail, where a political scandal was created after it was revealed gas was often used to subdue him." Sounds like the kind of guy I would want to share a locker room with! The paper also reported that he has had his visa revoked in the past "because of his violent past and self-confessed steroid abuse". They said that at his peak, Jones had arms that measured 50 centimeters. The really bizarre thing in the story was that "in 1989 Jones underwent surgery to remove a mammary gland in his left breast which began to produce milk as a result of steroid abuse". On the other hand they are using an extremely bankable gimmick on an unsafe bet. Also, I know Vince likes the "any publicity is good" mantra, but this is going to make 99% of non-fans that hear about this will look down on him like the freak show running carny he is hurting their chances of regaining the casual fans. Personally, knowing that ridiculous history I would have given his snapping routine to Sean OHaire with the big push it is supposedly going to get, let someone else play the devil's advocate and bring in Jones at a more typical pace and make him prove himself for a little bit before banking on him.
