Guest myburninghammer Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Am I the only one still scratching their head from the pre-game show skit where, to hype Jimmy Kimmel's new ABC talk show, they had him "say goodbye to cable" by walking onto various shows, including Raw? It was a very random five seconds: Kimmel got into the ring, walks by Test holding D'Lo in an abdominal stretch saying "goodbye WWE" (D'Lo even got the only speaking part by saying goodbye back), then hugs a confused Stacy (with a great look on her face) twice. When did they film this?
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 You've got me. And I can say that it wasn't in OKC. And that's the only Test/D-Lo singles I can think of......
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 didn't catch it...but they might show THE WHOLE THING on WWE.com......
Guest Mik at Cornell Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Yeah that was awesome, but tomorrow KIMMEL HAS THE ROCK ON HIS SHOW. and it's LIVE!
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Saw it and howled. Am curious to know when this happened, since I don't recall any Net recaps mentioning this...
Guest bob_barron Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 They probably did something computer generated or something like that. It was really funny though
Guest crandamaniac Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 According to a friend of mine, she went to the Raw they had in Arizona and Jimmy Kimmel did show up and enter the ring. So it wasn't computer-generated.
Guest Mik at Cornell Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 The best was JR acting like it was dastardly Paul Heyman or something. AND HERE'S JIMMY KIMMEL, What could he possibly be doing here KING? He hugged Stacy twice, haha.
Guest cynicalprofit Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 It wasnt d-lo, i dont know who it was, maybe teddy long?
Guest Slapnuts00 Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 That makes NO sense from a WWE standpoint. Why the hell would Vince or anyone else allow him to tape something on their show to say NOT to watch it and instead watch what is now competition programming. Am I the only one who's confused by this?! EDIT: Well I just realized the show is on at 12am meaning it does no against RAW. Although the commerical makes less sense, although I doubt nbc or cbs would allow him to hug Dave or Jay...
Guest Big McLargeHuge Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Are you sure he was saying "Bye cable, goodbye etc." meaning don't watch? We sure he wasn't just saying goodbye to being Comedy Central?
Guest Choken One Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 That was the idea, He has been on Cable for about 7 years now and he has moved to network.
Guest TheArchiteck Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Yeah JR sounded pissed off too.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Yeah, I actually made an account last night to explain this in depth, because I was there when it happened, but I had to wait for the whole account to register. It was at the 1/6 RAW in Phoenix. Test beat Nowinski, who had D'lo in his corner, after we went to commercial, D'lo ran in the ring, a couple exchanges and Test took the upper hand. Test locked him in and someone came down the ramp, it was Kimmel. He got a big chant of "Man Show". We didn't know what it was, but I think Kimmel's parents are from around the area, so I think that's what a lot of people were assuming. I guess this is where it showed up.
Guest subliminal_animal Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 J.R. was doing commentary on this clip? Yeah, I actually made an account last night to explain this in depth, because I was there when it happened, but I had to wait for the whole account to register. It was at the 1/6 RAW in Phoenix. So he hugged Stacy as Test put D'Lo in a stretch? Seems odd they would still be fighting, and that someone used an abdominal stretch in a post-match beat-down.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 So he hugged Stacy as Test put D'Lo in a stretch? Seems odd they would still be fighting, and that someone used an abdominal stretch in a post-match beat-down. Yeah, it really was. D'lo attacked, it was still going on and Test countered. Then it was an abdominal stretch and Kimmel came from the ramp. I didn't understand the move set or anything and didn't see it on TV, so I didn't see how it played out. No one really got it, because we didn't get the audio. He came out, hugged Stacy while Test was "stretching" D'lo and left. Then it didn't even air, so, no one got it until now I guess.
Guest subliminal_animal Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 I would've liked to have been there just to have seen the reaction of everyone around me.
