Alright, I want some Real Help here, not a bunch of non-smokers who never gone through this before telling me crap.

 

I've been smoking for 10 years now, and the longest I've gone without a smoke is 2 months.

 

I'm trying again here, and I'm past the 24 hour mark. Which is the worst, because you're going through the Withdrawals which makes you feel sick.

 

I'm not going to the Drug Store to waste money on "the Patch" or anyother kind of Medication.

 

Please, Give me some tips here to quit naturally.

First of all, I am a non smoker...but here's what my dad's told me what he did when he quit. He smoked for about 5 years he said.

 

Just keep yourself away from it, don't go places where it's going to be everywhere...like a bar.

 

And you can't quit unless you really want to. These gums and patches are just bullshit cause they're taking away the smoke but still feeding you the addiction.

 

If you're 100% serious about quitting you just will...if not you won't.

I'd advise the exact opposite: Go to places like bars, the smoking section of restaurants, etc., and inhale that thick, rich cigarette smoke. Take it deep into your lungs and let it activate that nerve center in your brain that releases pleasure into your body. Get that wonderful feeling you get like with that first cigarette after a long day working. Then immediately head out to the nearest convenience store, buy a pack of cigarettes, and admit to yourself that you'll never quit and that life is hardly worth living anyway. You'll thank me later.

Just put something else in your mouth -- gum/p*ssy/carrot...

I quit, but I should say that I started again, but it was not compulsion. I just felt like it. I figured with the various unhealthy aspects of my life, smoking is the last thing I need to worry about. Anyway, I quit by staying away from places where there's smoking, and actively not thinking about it. It's all about mind over matter.

I am a smoker who stops and starts all the time. Sometimes I go for months without smoking and then smoke again. I don't think I am addicted but I do enjoy a good smoke every now and then. I also am a big cigar buff. If you really want to quit, then quit. When you feel like smoking and your at home, exercise your want away. When at work chew regular bubblegum and put forth more effort in your work. Just take your mined away from it.

FearHavoc: I'd say avoid situations that would put you at risk. For example, if you have friends who smoke, don't be around them when they smoke. You might end up bumming one off them. You're fully capable of stopping if you want it enough, anyone is. There is nothing forcing you to smoke. You just have to want it enough. Whether it's the economic aspect or the health aspect, you're getting serious gains by quitting.

 

I read a short story by Stephen King about quitting smoking, it's in one of his short stories collections, I think Skeleton Crew. King smoked packs a day for a while, so he probably knows what he's talking about, maybe you should read that, (it's pretty good too)

 

Utimately quitting is on you. I admit I'm not a smoker, but I've quit other habits that were hard to kick. I think a big part is avoiding them when you can, because they're so pervasive. You can get them anywhere. Just avoid them, save money, and get healthy.

Go to a russian rehab clinic where they tie you to a bed for several months, feeding you nothing but bread, rice, water and fruit and the occasional hippo.

 

Oh wait...that's for heroin addiction.

Put a mousetrap in your cig packs. Guarantee that'll stop you from reaching for a smoke all the time.

Quitting cold turkey is the hardest thing to do.

 

I've only been smoking for a year, and I've tried to quit 3 times, and I couldn't do it.

 

Good luck man, quitting smoking is the hardest thing to do in the world.

I had a cousin that swore by eating suckers when he tried to quit. I haven't spoken to him in years though, so I can't validate it's success. I don't bother quitting. Every time I inhale the beautiful stuff and compare that feeling with the irritable restless hell that is being deprived of it, quitting seems less desirable.

Go visit a cancer ward in the hospital and ask any of them if they ever regret smoking.

 

Repeat until the idea is drilled into your head.
