Who won't make the Wrestlemania card?

For all the Wrestlemania card speculations, who do you think might not make the card despite deserving the slot?

 

I personally think Matt Hardy is iffy even without the injury he just suffered. I love MATTITUDE~ as much as anyone but the WWE always seems to be waffling on him. One week on Velocity, the next on Smackdown. I think they may just save the eventual Moore/Hardy match for something like Backlash or Judgment Day.

 

Another person I'm curious about is Goldust. This guy has turned it around BIG time since his return in 2002 and he and Booker should do something big at Safeco imo. But, who is there for them to face? 3 Minute Warning? William Regal/Lance Storm? Dudley Boyz? I can't figure out anybody on the RAW side that wouldn't bore the crowd. (They've already faced Warning and Storm/Regal. I don't think The Dudleys match would interest anyone) Booker will get a spot for sure...but what about Goldust?

 

This is all assuming that they don't do interpromotional matches at Wrestlemania. If they do, then I think anybody stands a chance of making the card.

I don't think alot of guys have a chance of making the Wrestlemania card just from the sheer amount of main event guys that will be on it. You have to think the upper card will be something like :

 

Austin vs HHH

Goldberg vs Rock

Brock vs Angle

Vince vs Hogan

HBK vs Jericho

 

That's 5 matches right there, and that leaves off a shitload of guys. Think about all the wrestlers who they need to get on there:

 

RVD

Kane

Booker T

Undertaker

Dudleyz

Batista, Randy Orton

Trish Stratus

Scott Stiener

Edge

Mysterio

Benoit

Eddie and Chavo

Matt or Jeff Hardy

Christian, Regal and Storm

Nathan Jones

Sean O Haire

Golddust

Christopher Nowinzki

Rhino

Tons of others

 

With probably only 5 or 6 undercard match slots available, I think it's all up for grabs. Whoever has the best storylines heading in will get the nod. Although, I wouldn't be surprised an undercard full of tag matches and 3 or 4 ways.

I was thinking the same thing Shanghai. Someone mentioned in another thread they though Wrestlemania will have 14 matches. But all of those big matches will get a considerable amount of time. Even with the event at 4 hours, there just isn't room for that many.

 

I feel really bad for some of the guys like Goldust, Matt Hardy, Dudleys, etc. who have been working hard all year and may get shunted off the biggest card of the year in favor of Kevin Nash or newbies who've done nothing notable like Batista and Nathan Jones.

However, I wish I could say the same for Christian, Hurricane (he wasn't even in the Rumble), Goldust (if Booker goes solo for WMania then he's screwed), Matt Hardy (needs a feud or else...HEAT!), Jaime Knoble, Chavo Guerrero (if Eddy goes solo for WMania then HE's screwed), and Al Snow

Granted, I think a lot of talent will be held off - but my list of those deserving to be on the show isn't as long.

 

I guess it's possible for the WWE to put together some interpromotional matches - at least in the tag team division. It's a great opportunity to play around with the rosters and put the Raw or Smackdown! tag straps on a team from the other show.

Kane - maybe

 

Booker T - yep

 

Undertaker - yep

 

Dudleyz - yep

 

Batista, Randy Orton - eh, all they have to do is protect Triple H - don't need a match

 

Trish Stratus - she should be at the show, but doesn't need to wrestle per say

 

Scott Stiener - yes

 

Edge - yes

 

Mysterio - yes

 

Benoit - hell yes

 

Eddie and Chavo - if they don't defend the tag straps at WM, i'll be pissed ... id like to see them against team angle with haas & benjamin walking out with the gold and giving team angle the momentum going into brock / angle

 

Matt or Jeff Hardy - maybe matt

 

Christian, Regal and Storm - maybe

 

D-lo - no way

 

Team Angle - yep

 

John Cena - not yet

 

Nathan Jones - not if he goes around breaking more opponents' bones

 

Sean O Haire - great character, yes ... wrestlemania worthy? not sure ... maybe heat

Granted, the show gave us a ton of tag matches and I can't really think of any straight up one on one matches besides Terri vs. The Kat off the top of my head, but I think with something as big as Wrestlemania, it's a lot of fun to see everyone, even if they are just thrown in some Battle Royal or something.

The reason you can't think of any other singles (one-on-one) matches is that Kat v. Terri was THE ONLY ONE.

Why just Four Hours? It's on the west coast, they can go 5 hours...Start the show at 7 ET and it ends at Midnight. If the superbowl can have 5 hours, why can't Wrestle Mania?

That's what I was saying earlier - it doesn't really matter if you have a match or not. As long as you are featured, it's all good. Remember last year with the never-ending hardcore match? Okay, bad example.

 

But as I stated earlier regarding Orton and Batista - all they have to do is a run-in or be prominately featured alongside Triple H and Flair and that's it. Same goes for Cena - he's awesome, granted - doesn't mean he gets higher billing than RVD or Edge or Booker who truely deserve a match.

Cena's shit has more marketing value than Chris Benoit. Benoit will be a World Champino within a year but at this years Wrestlemania he should give the rub to someone. Cena doesn't even have to beat him, just be in a high profile match. Benoit should only be happy to work with such a young blue chipper.

Why does everyone assume everyone needs to be on WM? Does the NFL let everyone at Pro Bowl? No. Nascar doesn't let all of them at The Winston Race. So why Should D'lo, Stevie be there? It's not the MLB all-stars here, where everyone gets a crack.
