Invictus 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2003 I'm watching. Lawler always seems so different when he's not doing his character, he sounds much more intelligent.
Invictus 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2003 The way Landsberg always interrupts in these interviews has bugged me for awhile now.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted January 28, 2003 King on OTR Landsberg kissed his ass to start. Landsberg asked about Stone Cold and Rock and asked about the lockerroom vibe on Stone Cold. King said time heals all wounds and tried to act like it was water on the bridge now while Landsberg egged him on. King said they're all business associates and a lot of stars looked at Austin leaving as a big opportunity for them. A lot of others looked at and had animosity. Landsberg said if you can make $ they welcome you back. King said 'You'd book the devil himself if it made money." King said you will do anything to make money which is why sometimes ridicilous storylines sometimes air. King on Austin "If you're gonna be late. Be real late." He said they need him. Landsberg talked about King leaving and coming back. Kevin Dunn wanted him back- King doesnt know of anyone who didnt want him back. King said coming back was like if he had never left. Everyone was nice to him. They talked about Barrett Roberts. King agreed that the Raiders were right to say they dont want him back. King said that if someone had walked out before Wrestlemania they would be brought back in time if they could make money. They talked about Rock. King said he isn't turning his back on anybody and they mentioned Flex Kavana. King is amazed that people get upset at Rock and said he is going with the flow. King said is he gonna say no to movies? They talked about Sable and King said she wasn't his type. King said Rock is not turning back and when he is not filming he comes back as 'The Rock'. King said as long as he keeps coming back- all is right with the world. Landsberg asked how fame has changed him. King said he likes to think it hasn't. He still lives in Memphs, in the same house for 20 years. Break

Invictus 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2003 Lawler hate women's wrestling! He also said he's not a pervert, he just plays one on T.V.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted January 28, 2003 Landsberg said he thinks King likes women and sex. King said he loves women and sex. He doesn't think he loves it more then anyone else. Landsberg called him a highly sexed man. Landsberg asked about the importance of sex in the industry- King said he is not a pervert but he plays on on TV. He does not like to see women wrestling but likes seeing them involved in wrestling. He talked about the hardcore match last night and said he doesn't like seeing a woman get abused and beaten up and called it a turn off. Landsberg asked if you can be married to someone in the business. King said he doesn't think it can. The biggest mistake was getting her involved in the business. He called her good at what she did. He thought she was one of the best divas they had. Landsberg asked if personal lives should be involved on camera. King said yes. King said Austin should talk about what happened with Debra on the air. King said he would write about the breakup of him and Stacy with tears in his eyes. He wasn't writing about Stacy- he was writing to Stacy. He doesn't know if she's read the book. He said the book wasn't theraputic and it seems like he still loves her. They showed a drawing he did. Break.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2003 This is actually pretty good. Lawler's a lot moreo pen than Heyman was.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted January 28, 2003 We're back. Landsberg asked about his high pitched squeal which he loves. He stole it from Curly of the 3 Stooges. People come up to him and ask him to say puppies. They have to scream to speak above the fans and it's hard to do it without the fans. Landsberg asked if he carries a briefcase. He has one- it has a laptop and a book. At 11 am they have a production meeting that King doesn't go to. He doesn't want to know what's gonna happen. He said he was still a fan and wants to be suprised like everyone else. Landsberg said his job is to get guys over. King says he tries to and that's the #1 thing on JR's mind. He doesn't think about it. King said wrestlers do not complain to him- D-Lo came up to him and gave him a line to use and he used it. They talked about Heyman and showed a clip of him from OTR where he said he did better then him. King said he's a legend in his own mind. King said Heyman looked at him leaving at his opportunity to be the best. King said he knows he is better then Heyman.
Invictus 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2003 Holy Crap! Off The Record will have two shows with Bret Hart in February!
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted January 28, 2003 They plugged his book and announced Bret is going to be on in Feb. King said they wanted Bret at RAW X and literally almost begged him. Landsberg gave him a chance to talk about his book. King said his book is different because it has more personal stuff in it. No one has told the wrestlers not to go on OTR and they all enjoyed it. King said they love to go out of character. Hulk Hogan: Biggest ever. Randy Savage: Thought he was biggest ever. Randy was another Sable. Ric Flair: Never close. It seemed like he didnt like him. End of show.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2003 Good interview. Lawler was more candid than Heyman and Hogan(duh) and this pretty damn entertaining. Lawler's also quite intelligent when it comes to the business and it was funny to hear him admit that the WWE begged Bret to appear on Raw X.
Guest The Old Me Report post Posted January 28, 2003 King said he knows he is better then Heyman. HA! Sorry, was that out loud?
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted January 28, 2003 Well, at least I can now believe his "I'm not intentionally stupid, I play stupid on TV" bit when people were writing some really overboard hate mail to him. I just wish he'd tone it down a little.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted January 29, 2003 HA! Sorry, was that out loud? If Lawler would be himself when he's announcing, I think a strong argument could be made that he is better than Heyman. JOTW:I think Vince is more to blame for Lawler's persona on Raw than anyone else.
