Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted January 29, 2003 "Roddy piper returned to Portland Wrestling last thursday and shot an interview with his ``new millenium wrestlers``. They are American Dragon, ``Tornado``Tony Kozina and Adam Firestorm. All signs point to these guys heading to NWA-TNA along with Piper." Sweet. I've never heard of the other 2 guys, but American Dragon coming in will be cool.
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted January 29, 2003 From what I saw of Tony Kozina in ECWA's Pacific Cup Tourney he's a solid guy. Am Dragon in TNA is nothing but good. The fact that they can recreate the Daniels/Dragon/Ki 3 Way from ROH is just super.
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted January 29, 2003 They can recreate it, but a) will they give it the time, and b) since a nashville crowd is different then a philly crowd, will they respect it and pop the same? 'Sides, we've have to wait for X3 to break up first.
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted January 29, 2003 Well, the fact that we can see Styles and Dragon vs Ki and Daniels is enough to make me order a TNA show.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted January 29, 2003 They can recreate it, but a) will they give it the time, and b) since a nashville crowd is different then a philly crowd, will they respect it and pop the same? Shit man, the Nashville crowd is as smart and appreciative to good wrestling as Philly was/is if you ask me. They gave that oldschool wrestling match of Jarrett-Killing awesome heat and respect, as well as that six man with the SAT v. XXX. Giving it time is another question though, hard to say. Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted January 29, 2003 Wasn't Dragon on Velocity the other week? Did WWE give up on him? They fire 3 guys and can't bother to pick up 1 good guy?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted January 29, 2003 They would give it time. But the crowd is trained differently now. I'm sure they'd show respect for him though...it doesn't take more than a few minutes to realize that he is pretty special. Dragon had a developmental contract a while back that they let him out of I guess. He'd be completely wasted in WWE, and only partially wasted in TNA. RoH is where to go to see this kid in all his glory.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted January 29, 2003 Hmm...with Xavier getting a (from what I read anyway) real good dark match last week and American Dragon on his way... I think the next generation of X division is finally arriving.
syxx2001 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2003 xavier is nothing special. he's lazy, or just needs someone to carry him. and if they gave triple x vs the sats 20 minutes, i dont see why a SAT AND AMERICAN DRAGON VS TRIPLE X AND STYLES MATCH CANT DO THE SAME~! imagine the spots
Guest nikowwf Report post Posted January 29, 2003 I've heard good things about American Dragon, but also heard that he's at his best in LONG matches. True? Anyway, good cruisers are good cruisers so should be nice addition. nikO
Guest Phoenix Fury Legdrop Report post Posted January 29, 2003 Bryan Alvarez, Meltz's little buddy who wrestles for Portland weekly, said on WOL this weekend that there was a meeting before the last taping to let the guys know that there were no plans for a Portland/TNA deal, so don't get your hopes up. Guest Coffey Report post Posted January 31, 2003 American Dragon needs to wear a mask or something. He looks too much like a backyard wrestler. That doesn't mean that he can't get the job done in the ring though. Then again, Spanky wears a mask and he still looks like a generic backyard wrestler. The first thing American Dragon needs is a tan and/or pants. I was watching ROH one night on TV, and a couple friends walked in right as Dragon was bridging up on Low Ki. And of course, wham, Dragon's crotch staring at me from the camera for about twenty seconds.

Guest Banky Report post Posted February 2, 2003 Dragon is WWE-bound. He won't show up in the TNA.
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted February 3, 2003 Correction Banky: Dragon is WWE-Bound IF he gets a tan and a haircut. Or so it's been said....
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 3, 2003 Dragon in WWE will result in the biggest waste of a young talent that I can recall. From 40 minute epics to 4 minute squashes. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Guest Joejigatame Report post Posted February 3, 2003 You say that, but it's not as if Dragon will get 40 minutes on TNA either, what with Russo around. At least people won't have to pay $10 to wade through the less than impressive stuff just to see him wrestle. If he's smart, he'll avoid WWE and TNA.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 3, 2003 I somehow think the drop from 40 to 15 is easier than 40 to 4. Plus it's not like he got 40 minutes all the time anyway. He can work a great 20 minute match, and he could get nearly that in TNA. He should avoid both because they'll make him change his style.
Guest Joejigatame Report post Posted February 3, 2003 Do you really think he'll get 15 minutes though? I ask, because it seems that match times have reduced drastically recently. That, and the more talented guys have been booked against...ummm...the not-so-talented guys (that's a politically correct way of putting it). It's a moot point anyway, since it's not happening. Oh well.
Guest Phoenix Fury Legdrop Report post Posted February 3, 2003 Not to get mad or anything, but, as I said before, NO ONE FROM PORTLAND WRESTLING IS COMING TO TNA, even American Dragon, unless he gets booked through an outside source.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 3, 2003 That doesn't mean we can't debate the positives and negatives of the idea anyway. We're smarks dammit!
Astro101 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2003 I'm a genius. TWO rings! One for talking and one for wrestling...and do everything simultaneously with a split screen.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted February 3, 2003 That would assure my buy every week. I noticed a decided lack of match time compared to past weeks simply between the time in late November that I ordered and the last two weeks that I've seen. A lot of that can be attributed to the fact that there wasn't a company-engrossing storyline at the time in November, but it still makes you wonder.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 3, 2003 It doesn't make me wonder anything. Russo was at the helm for the show where they gave the Triple X vs. SAT main event and the X division gauntlet over 20 minutes each.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted February 3, 2003 That was the one week out of the last four that I haven't seen. I also made sure to note that my statement was based only on what I myself have seen.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 3, 2003 Oh. You know it's a fine line they walk. On one hand they haven't had a 20 minute match in the last month (unless the XXX vs. JJ match went that long...but that was 3 seperate matches) and yet...I can't really point to a match they've booked where I thought "this needed to go 20 minutes". Last week aside, I've been pretty happy with the get everyone involved booking approach...so I think that when they have a match they know needs time they have a pretty good track record of giving it to it.
