Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted January 29, 2003 WWE had Raven sign a confidentiality agreement before they released him, meaning he will not be allowed to speak about why WWE released him, how he felt about the company, etc. 1wrestling.com
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted January 29, 2003 Probably because they knew he'd spill the truth about certain people in tHHHe back tHHHat HHHad a certain way of making sure tHHHat certain workers did not get pusHHHed... ...I feel so dirty for typing that now... Guest nikowwf Report post Posted January 29, 2003 NO ONE should complain about the gag order because he didn't get any no compete clause...and hes in NWA/TNA for your viewing pleasure. More than makes up for no shoot interview, dontcha think? niko
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted January 29, 2003 I agree. Vince did right by everyone. We get to see Raven and WWE protects it's interest. ... It would be cool if Russo told everyone Raven's story for him though. Sure it would land them in trouble...but I'd laugh.
Astro101 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2003 I was just thinking the same thing, if someone else told the story. Would there be any legal problems with that?
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted January 29, 2003 I'm sure if they did it on the show yes, the wwe could sue.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted January 29, 2003 I guess it depends how they would say it. If they said something along the lines of "the oppressors up north" I wouldn't think that could get them up trouble. I mean, "up north" could mean anything.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted January 29, 2003 That would be fine. Saying something like "Raven was fired because he spoke out regularly against the facist HHH led regime" probably wouldn't work as well. As is...I hope they say nothing about his WWE time at all. Right now Raven has a freshness in TNA that can only be tarnished by looking back at his years of doing nothing.
Guest NoSelfWorth Report post Posted January 29, 2003 They could allude to it. It wouldn't be that hard to talk about it in a way that doesn't mention anything specific, but that fans could easily interpret. Russo: "No one will hold you back here Raven" "You're allowed to speak your mind Raven, despite what you've been told"
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted January 29, 2003 Remember when The Outsiders came to WCW? Vince had his lawyers on it immediately and Bischoff had to finally come out on tv and ask them if they work for the WWF and they had to say no.
Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted January 29, 2003 I think that Vince and co. will be more likely to bust balls in a case like this than in the past ... but he could always use ECW references to cover up for his comments. I remember once in WCW when he made a reference to the "barbed wire bingo hall" in a promo, and he could do something like that to speak his mind without referring to the WWE. Personally, I think it would be stupid for NWA-TNA to allow it, if it gave Vince a reason to (or the motivation to) try and screw with them.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted January 30, 2003 If it means less Russo stupidity ("That's a SHOOT, Tony!") I'm all for it. I started tuning out of TNA around the time Russo started going on about David Arquette and Curt Hennig couldn't stop talking about the plane ride from hell... Guest Justwitty Report post Posted January 30, 2003 I agree with everyone who says this is a good thing. TNA is too young right now to be worrying about crapping on the WWE right now. What they need to do is worry about building themselves up first and forging their own identity. Case in point...Ron Killings and his success while hardly acknowledging his WWE past. Jeff Jarrett forging a new character basically as well. Now, look at how well Curt Hennig, Brian Lawler, etc. have done while reminding everyone of their WWE past. I think Raven is smart enough to know how to go the Killings/Jarrett route.
Guest Ram Report post Posted January 30, 2003 I guess it depends how they would say it. If they said something along the lines of "the oppressors up north" I wouldn't think that could get them up trouble. I mean, "up north" could mean anything. "We meant CANADA!" Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted January 31, 2003 This is a little off topic, but I don't want to start a new thread. Is Raven still wearing those little tighs in TNA? Or has he changed his look at all?
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted February 1, 2003 He's rockin' the kilt.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted February 1, 2003 Personally I'm glad we won't be seeing another bitter former WWE talent shooting on TNA's show. I really hope that we will be seeing the Raven of ECW and WCW days because the WWE version of him has been a major letdown.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 1, 2003 I have to say I much preferred Raven sitting up on the balcony paying homage to the importance of the NWA title and then explaining that JJ doesn't understand that it is time for a change, than I would have had him cut a bitter promo on Vince and co. "They say you remember the things you survive more than the things you enjoy. What I have planned or you, You will never forget" Or something like that. Guest hebtheeagle Report post Posted February 1, 2003 I'm personally sick of HHH giving everyone in the WWE the screw job, as it may be Raven, RVD, Kane, or Scott Steiner at the Rumble. It would be a better WWE world if Mr. Helmsley would get the F out!
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted February 1, 2003 Like everyone said- It's good that Raven can cut a long promo about leaving WWE. TNA needs to stop talking about WWF/E and who killed WCW and start talking more about TNA. And hebtheeagle- I don't think HHH screwed Raven.
Guest The Thread Killer Report post Posted February 1, 2003 Yeah. Raven screwed Raven.
Guest JMA Report post Posted February 9, 2003 Why does no one else have this gag order? Are the WWE such pussies that they are afraid of critisism? I think it's pretty clear that Vince fears Scott Levy (Raven). He should.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted February 9, 2003 Because Raven is one of those workers whose promo's will ALWAYS be listened to. Plus, it was well-publicized on the 'net that he was HHHeld down for speaking out on certain ideas.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted February 9, 2003 It was probably in exchange for getting an immediate release. Triple H did not hold Raven down at all. There wasn't much to hold down to begin with. Besides- Vince makes the decisions, not HHH. Raven also screwed himself over by refusing to job to Jerry Lawler in his hometown AND by refusing to do commentary
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted February 9, 2003 Oh, I know, but it's really fun to add fuel to tHHHe HHHater fire.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted February 9, 2003 Wait? Gag order? But he's on WOL tonight and Dave said you can ask him ANYTHING.
Astro101 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2003 You can ask him anything...doesn't mean he has to answer.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted February 10, 2003 I don't think Dave would have said that though. He would've said "You can ask him anything except things about the WWE because he has a gag order."
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted February 10, 2003 Hmm....he's talking about WWE and saying that they released him. Nevermind...he said there's a lot he can't say because of legal reasons. But he seems to be saying a little bit.....but not much.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted February 10, 2003 He said alot more than I expected. Too bad he's not into becoming a writer for a full time career down the road when he gets sick of wrestling, it sounds like he really knows the reality of the business that unfortunately is a rarety for someone these days. including all of us here.
