Guest ShamRock Report post Posted January 30, 2003 I got a project in my study of film class.I have to make a movie and it can't be longer than 10 mins.I was thinking about doing a movie about wrestling. My friend would be the champion and I would be the challenger and then he would job to me in the end for the title.I don't have a idea on how to build up the match in the movie.As far as who I am going to be potraying in the movie,I 'd be Stone Cold and my friend would be Bret Hart. Also, is your teacher going to mark down your grade because your using copyrighted characters and whatnot rather than just coming up with your own idea? Guest ShamRock Report post Posted January 30, 2003 Couple of people did Sleepy Hollow last semester and she didn't say anything to them. My friends did a wrestling movie last semester and they got a C for the movie being to long (45 mins) and too much violence, according to the teacher.When I watched the tape though, there was no blood and no weapons and they wrestled on matresses in their backyard. I plan on using the school gym. Their movie only had matches.They had no buildup to it.My movie would be different than theirs.I don't know how to build it up,that's why I posted this topic. You can have strategicaly placed things like someone in a car which screeches to a halt as you go into the street. Somebody at this board suggested a idea about Rock's return.He would diss the wrestling industry and be the champ and Benoit comes out and defends it.Then the two have a match and Rock jobs to Benoit.I could just come up with two different names and do it like that. Make up like 10 wild characters with predominantly easily explainable gimmicks (Berzerker=viking, etc.) and work from there. You could do some character development as the match goes on and add some twists at the end to make it interesting. Basically, turn 'The Amazing Race' into an 8-minute wrestling match. Eventually your partner turns on you over the jealousy of being in your shadow. So your out for revenge to some degree but at the same time torn b/c he was so close to you in the past. Have your own "Director's Cut" of it, upload it to the net, and let us all see it. Create your own characters. Only do basic things, or moves you KNOW you can pull off. Use mats about an inch thick, or just do a "crowd brawl." Make the anticipation worse than the event. If you're going to build up to the match, have the first 5 minutes of the project be the build-up (recap what is meant to be months/years worth of footage, all leading up to the final match), and either clip the actual match (to show the high-spots) or just JIP it to the final 4 or 5 minutes of the match. Like I said, actually record and hour and a half's worth of footage, with the match itself somewhere around 20 minutes, and the rest all build-up. The concept moves along quickly and if you have easy to identify character archtypes it will be easy to follow. The "anti-wrestling" crowd won't pick up on the wrestling aspect right away and give you more of a chance.
