Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Report post Posted January 30, 2003 Meat Loaf is good, but I feel the pinnacle of his career was singing "Hot Patootie" in Rocky Horror.
Guest red_file Report post Posted January 30, 2003 He's at his best only when singing something Steinman wrote. Some of the middle albums withough Steinman, though, are kinda fun as they stray away from the "wagnerian rock opera" mentality. I'm still at a loss as to explain the Cher duet, though. Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted January 30, 2003 I generally like Meatloaf, but I can only listen to so much of him at a time. His VH-1 Storytellers of a few years ago was really great as he did a stripped down version of everything and was seeming to have a really good time. I would say that Meatloaf and Steinman have a very dependent relationship. I don't think Meatloaf would have took off without those unique songs and I don't think Steinman would have been able to sell or get across a lot of those weird opuses without Meatloaf to interpret them. Cher will sing anything with anybody. She's a musical whore. She sang "I've Got you Babe" with Beavis and Butthead for crying out loud.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted January 30, 2003 Agreed on the dependent relationship thing. There's a reason that Loaf's two big albums are Bat Out Of Hell and its explicit sequel. Know what Steinman's been up to lately? Producing perhaps the worst-reviewed show in all of New York, Dance of the Vampires, starring an old, beaten-down Michael Crawford. Poor dude needs a fat man to back him up to this day.
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted January 30, 2003 He's one of those people who seems like a nice guy, and I'm fairly indifferent to most of music, so I have nothing against him. I like Bat out of hell though.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted January 30, 2003 One of those inoffensive Rock stars that dissapers for about 4 years and resurges everyonce in awhile. Fun guy.

He has a great voice, he absolutely sings his heart out everytime he's given the chance. I play Bat Out Of Hell 1 & 2 pretty often, great albums.
Guest Ace309 Report post Posted January 31, 2003 I went and saw him when the VH1 Storytellers tour brought him to Buffalo. Needless to say, I own an autographed copy of the CD. I wouldn't say I'm a BIG fan, but I enjoy his stuff.

Guest spiny norman Report post Posted January 31, 2003 *Love* Meat Loaf. Well, except the Cher song. But I think Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad and Heaven Can Wait are better than Bat Out Of Hell. But yeah, great, unique music.
