I could really care less, as much as I like the gimmick, because unfortunately it's not going anywhere and it's not going to get him anywhere. It's just comic relief at this point. It's not that he thinks it's a bad idea, it's a good idea but it's gotten him very little heel heat and it has very little direction. He's not the booker, and unless he is now, all he can do is make recommendations. And unfortunately, Matt's not going anywhere at the moment and hasn't helped his case out at all.

Anyways, I still like Ace. He books some of the best finishes I've seen in the US in quite a while and was instrumental in working with the workers on how to get the submission holds over.

You know what the WWE SHOULD do to shut up those girls?

Matt Hardy can become a woman hater with Mattitude.

Except seeing that he's already been around Jeff Hardy for years, being a woman hater would make Matt look really.....

Well, nevermind. I'm sure Yuna Firerose or someone else will put the pieces together.

It would be interesting if Matt had Lita come aboard, then mistreat, because as said earlier, the fans do care about Lita.

The heel heat could be amazing when Matt would say, backhand Lita to the canvas. Hell, it would be better for Lita to have some role in the company while she continues to heal, because she flat out sucks at commentary.

Oh yeah, fuck Johnny Ace. ;)

He also (apparently) books the near-fall finishes where everyone's finisher gets only 2-counts, and while in some cases adds to the drama of a match, it has been overused far too much over the last two months, cheapening the drama and thus the finisher. Case in point: when was the last time an Angle slam or a swandive headbutt has put someone away for the three?

Wow, overuse of a good booking tool - reminds me of a SUPER GENIUS we know......

Lita, when she returns to health, can get to choose between heel Jeff or heel Matt.

She can choose Matt, then Matt can treat her like dirt for awhile.

Would it get heat if Lita turned face with Shannon Moore to face Matt Hardy?

Here's a funny Johnny Ace story...

When he and Shane Douglas were the Dynamic Dudes, there were MANY anti-Dudes posters including one that said "Johnny sucks Shane's cock."

One night, Johnny was talking with Jim Cornette and was so demoralized after the crowd was done with them that he said "Well, I guess I better go suck Shane's cock." and headed for the shower.

This was in Philly, I'm guessing, because Cornette made a big deal about not wanting to be close to them at ringside because he joked he might get hit by the snipers aiming for the Dudes (this was when he was "advising" the Dudes, before turning on them to manage the Midnight Express full time again).

That is absolutely absurd. Matt Hardy went in most of our eyes from someone you could give two shits about to a potential star. He brought his own ideas and character to the table and is one of the more entertaining people on Smackdown.

Ace's logic is ridiculous and I could see Heyman getting suspended again for lashing out at this moron about Matt.

Thoughts?

Everything is Matt's own idea? Wow, where' you find that out?

And if this is true, I'd guess that maybe it's about how Matt reacted to his aborted Rey Mysterio push. Maybe Ace found it unprofessional and wants to teach Matt a lesson. Or he just hates him, which could be why he wanted the push aborted to begin with. I don't know. I'm not a doctor.

Seeing as how the Albert push continues this week on Smackdown,  I see a lot oging wrong and things are obviously not in Heyman's control on Smackdown.

You could make a case that his push is restarting, since he's been getting killed pretty handily the past few weeks. And really, a guy that size should probably be able to beat Rey Mysterio. But, yeah ... a push is a push.

The show hasn't aired yet though so it may not be an A-Train push.  It depends on how big of a deal the announcers make his victory out to be.  It could be blown off like a Nunzio/Crash match is in which case it is merely a normal match with an ending most people don't like.  If they hype up how big of a victory it is for A-Train, then we may be in for another A-Train push.

A match between two of the more prominent superstars on the roster means something, especially since they ran an injury angle between them that has yet to be resolved. This will not be like a Nunzio and Crash match, trust me.

But we won't know until it airs.  (For a flip side example, RVD beat Jeff Hardy but it wasn't meant as a push for RVD...it was just a match.)

Yes, because Jeff is lower on the card. If Angle beats Chavo, it's not that Angle is being pushed. But someone already said all this.

It was just the first example that came to mind.  Same rule applies to the aforementioned match coming up on Thursday.  It could just be meaningless depending on how the announcers play it up.

Unless something totally unforeseen happens, it's not meaningless. I said why.

There is almost a Revolution going on now. People don't want Goofy Characters, people don't want, over the top, out of this world, Storylines.

People want to be Entertained by WRESTLING. People want either Comedy or Badass Characters right now.

Matt Hardy could be a little of both if given the right Push.

Matt Hardy is a pretty goofy, over-the-top character.

Well, if they'd done it in the first place, it would have been a good way with Matt's promos to cement him as a heel.  I'd imagine a long-time face wrestler who is over mainly for his matches would always be similarly difficult to turn heel.  Same would go for RVD, who was still cheered as a heel in both WWE and ECW.  In those cases, you need to give them something pretty big to try to turn the crowd on them.

Yes, but unlike RVD, Matt would be only over for his ladder/table/TLC matches, and he hasn't had any of those for a long time. RVD is over based on his arsenal and regular in-ring performance, not necessarily because any particular matches. I don't think any worker can really stay over for a sustained amount of time because of a few spectacular matches if he has nothing else to offer.

Because Johnny Ace is a bitter washed-up never-was who like Shane Douglas, who still is made at being forced into the ultra-lame blow-job tag team "The Dynamic Dudes" which killed his credibility in the US and forced him to go into exile in Japan because no one would give him a chance to reinvent himself as something other than a pretty boy who kept getting the shit kicked out of him while the fans were screaming obsenities at him.

What's a "blow-job" tag team? Never have heard that one before!

"Blow job tag team" is a term used for a team made up of cute guys who draw young girls, which in turn draw young guys.

The modern day equivilant are the Hardy Boyz.

If Matt has to turn face so be it, but if this character gets dumped it will kill his heat. If he goes back to the horribly stale Team X-Treme gimmick his career is over, period.

When Jericho turned face in 2000, they didn't dump the thing that made him popular in the first place. Had they turned him back to his 1996 character he would be in NWATNA right now.

Whoa, that's an actual term?

And would young guys go to a show just because there's young girls there?

And would young guys go to a show just because there's young girls there?

It's a term that was coined by Jarrett and Lawler in the 80s, IIRC. When Bill Watts asked them to tell him why Mid-South was on its ass in 1983, they came in, watched the matches, and said "Where are the blowjobs?" Watts said "Let the BOYS worry about getting blowjobs. Tell me about my territory."

They eventually explained that he was down to the hardcore fans. In order to bring in new fans, he needed young cute face wrestlers to draw in the young girls. Because the girls would be there, young guys would start coming too. As a result, the territory would thrive.

Jarrett then traded the Rock and Roll Express, Terry Taylor, and the Midnight Express to Watts, who then had one of his the biggest years of business ever.

As for the reasoning behind the term "blowjobs", I'm sure it meant that the girls were blowing guys who they'd meet at the matches, although I'm not sure if it was the other fans or the wrestlers.

I'm not sure if this theory works today since so much of the audience only watches on TV instead of going to house shows, though.

Yeah--he means Paul Heyman.

Vince Russo wouldn't know a good booking tool if it bit him on the ass.

Could someone (Dave, Wade, anyone?) explain to me when Johny Ace got enough clout that he could sabotage the push of someone even though the head writer is in favor of pushing him?

This makes no sense. I hate to throw mud at the Observor, but it's well known that Meltzer talks with Paul Heyman very often as one of his backstage contacts. If Paul is the one who told Dave this story, it's obviously a biased source.

Paul has always tried to stay in the good graces of the internet, always covering his ass and making friends with the dirt sheet writers so that opinion of him on the net stays strong. This seems like another perfect example of that happening. He informs everyond that Ace "went over his head" to Vince and had Albert get Matt's push instead, and expects everyone to believe that Paul himself was "powerless to stop him."

Are we to believe that Ace was the one responsible for the countless times Matt was squashed by Lesnar, Big Show, and the Undertaker? Were those all examples of Ace "going over Heyman's head" like Meltzer is telling us? I refuse to believe for one minute that Heyman is "all in favor" of a Matt Hardy push when he spent all of Matt's heel run prior to Ace's "intervention" (i) burrying him or (ii) treating him as comedy.

I know it's simply unheard of on these boards to knock anything Meltzer says, but consider me the figuerative guy in the audience chanting "BULL-SHIT!" durring a Foley promo, because I aint buying this heap of news.

Come to think of it, I'd say the title for this post is rather fitting.
