Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted January 30, 2003 The WWE, General Wrestling and Old School wrestling folders are hideous to visit sometimes as I see usually the same things that were said last week repeated again this week. The lack of knowledge and willingness to learn and go beyond what the newsites churn out is also alarming as they only regurgitate what an idiot like Keith has mentioned or take what Meltzer or Keller say at face value and don't read in between the lines of what they are saying. Dames, you have asked me the same question before and I echo Incandenza's sentiments: Besides deleting the bloody thing, there is nothing much you can do to make posters who find the folder a joke, etc. to go in there and post. The Smarts Pop Culture section is top notch but on the wrestling side of things, it falls short. I don't feel like I should have to hunt down these "good discussions" that Bob Barron speaks of because 90% of the time I only see mindless drivel and loads of crap. Guest bob_barron Report post Posted January 30, 2003 I don't see the problem with General Wrestling or Old School and find them to be two of the best folders here. A lot of good discussion about wrestling goes on and it's fun talking stuff you used to mark out for as a child. As far asa willingness to learn- A lot of people ask in the Old School folder about certain matches, angles or wrestlers and it always generates great discussion. You were making Old School with your This day... stuff and I think Old School is one of the more underrated folders at the board. CWM- I checked out Underground and it just didn't appeal to me. But the threads would maybe get 3 other posts tops with me posting replys in the hopes of generating discussion. No one in that folder gave me any indication that they wanted to know more about what I was posting and went back to talking about worthless angles and matches from 7 years ago. Meltzer spelled a lot of the things out so there wasn't really a need to ask any questions. So topics from 5 years ago can only be discussed? I could have sworn the folder encompassed all things from wrestling that were 5 or more years older. I'm not sure what the purpose of the folder has to do with my lack of interest over the fact that the discussions don't go beyond 1996 and usually stem from someone asking about "what PPV did such and such occur?" which leads to an inane thread of useless posts. Yes the negitivity, HHHating and Hoss hating gets a little bit too much but there are many great threads in there with lots of good discussion and arguing back and forth. I rarely if ever mention Regal in the folder- He is just my avatar. That's it. The only times I really bring his name up is when someone starts a Regal sucks thread. I admitted in my RAW recaps and the board that putting the title on the Commonwealth Connection was a bad idea. In threads where I talk about why I don't like a certain wrestler someone always goes: Well Regal isn't that great either. I did it once to Downhome and I realised how stupid it is to do so I guess that's why I have the chip on my shoulder. I have been around since the EZboard days. I was under the names VinnySmack and SmarkySmark back then. I'm just an easy going guy so a lot of the stuff in the WWE folder doesn't bother me. It's all bullshit. I would talk wrestling with someone like downhome, who obviously knows his shit but, you cannot have a meaningfull conversation about wrestling with a dude who has been watching since 2000 and has never seen any other style other than american/garbage style that is today. I do however join in sometimes on the NWA folder but, I long for the next ECW and TNA ain't it.
