I have an idea for a character/gimmick

Okay I just want to know before I post my character idea, is gaijin a negative term for American in Japan?

Okay if that's the case here's the idea:

You have an American wrestler whose had experience in Japan. You have him debut here wearing traditional Japanese attire (the gi, headband, etc). Have the announcers talks about he has come to develop a deep respect for Japanese culture and wrestling. Have him wrestle in a style that's as close to puro within the framework of NA wrestling.

One could even go one step further and have him speak only Japanese in his interviews and have an interpretuer. He can speak about how American wrestling pales to Japanese and how he's going to prove why puro is superior (yes he'd be a heel). I'd call him Gaijin. (If he were wrestling in the WWE I'd use Hakushi's old music for him, I always loved that music, very haunting, in fact the character is kinda similar to Hakushi, just using a white guy in the role).

*Thinks about some useless dude that wrestled in aGi, that he saw on a Deathmatch tape once. Shudders*

Why not just have him wear the ring gear of various great Puro stars?

Yes that would work fine too, have him cut promos about the greatness of a Misawa or Kobashi etc.

It'd be a tough gimmick to pull off because

1) The guy should be a good wrestler AND be able to do "puro-esque" moves without risking seriously hurting American wrestlers not familiar with Japanese style

2) Speak if not fluent than competent (sp) Japanese (this is the one part that isn't necessary for the gimmick, I just thought it'd be a cool touch)

3) Get over as a heel with his "Japanese wrestling is superior" without having the smarks flock to him and eventually turning the rubes onto his philosophy too

He should have a heavy accent when he speaks English.

Not necessarily, because he's American born, just became enamored with Japanese culture. This is why I like the idea of him speaking Japanese in his interviews.

OK. Will he squint to make his eyes look slanted?

Nah he'll just be very condesending towards NA wrestling and certain wrestlers. He'll disrespect the talent, calling them nothing but "showboats" and "overpaid actors". He'll talk about Japan being a place where "real athletes" wrestle and the fans there appreciate athleticism over "poorly done melodrama".

This is great. It's too bad the average wrestling fan doesn't even know that pro wrestling exists outside of North America, much less "Japanese style."

Yes, and call him "Tokio"...

And have him played by Alex Wright.

I think Dojo is a pretty cool name for someone like that, or maybe some huge bodyguard type guy for him. I quite like the idea.
