Guest Jack Tunney Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 I've always wanted to see a gimmick where there's a wrestler who has low self-esteem and just mopes around when cutting promos. It would be odd since most wrestlers are all like,"I'm the best,I'll kick your ass!".I wonder how the fans would react to a guy with no confidence.
Guest NoSelfWorth Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 They'd piss all over him. Maybe literally.
Guest Sandman9000 Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 Depends on how sympathetic he was. Mikey Whipwreck basically had that character when he first started out in ECW, and the Philly crowd amazingly didn't shit all over him. It would be better for a face who just got his ass handed to him to go into the "woe is me" act, as they might be able to drum up some support. But a relative newbie doing that act? Mikey might be a fluke, not a rule.
Guest Jack Tunney Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 That was back when "Loser" was his entrance music, those were the days. And when this character wins a match he just says something like,"I got lucky".
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 That's similar to what my own personal character, Andrew Crow, is like. He's been mentally abused by his older brother and manager, Jason Crow, since the age of 9, when his parents died, and Jason took care of him (Jason is 6 years older than Andrew, and is a HUGE prick). Basically, in promo's, Andrew tells Jason that he wants to wrestle by the rules, but he ends up getting smacked by Jason, so he's forced to heel-it-up a little bit. Jason smacks him around on the way to the ring, and even during the match, threatening beatings whenever Andrew's on defense (and, since Jason's always been an authority figure, this makes sense). Andrew only cheats when Jason threatens him to A WHOLE LOT, and whenever he takes Jason's advice it usually costs him the match, and then Jason lays down a whoopin'.
