Guest Kibagami Report post Posted January 30, 2003 I’m finished. Done. Retired. Over with. With 5,000 words written of my Clusterfuck match, I realize that I am not having fun writing any more. I’ve written myself into too many corners with Silent and Nathaniel, and I just don’t feel like what I’m doing right now does justice to the character I had in mind when I returned in July. I think it’s a much better decision for me at this point to retire instead of slowly burning out like I did back when we first merged the junior leagues. I’ll still be in chat fairly often, and I won’t rule out the possibility of a return at some future point. But I’d like to make it clear that neither Nathaniel Kibagami nor Silent will ever make an appearance in the SWF again. There will be a promo up shortly after Clusterfuck that’ll explain Kibagami’s sudden absence. His retirement will be the result of a neck injury, but you guys already knew that, didn’t you? I’ve had a lot of fun here in the last couple of years, and part of me still wants to stay active and writing all my matches the day that they’re due…but that’s not the way things should be done. When this seems like fun again, I’ll come back. Until then, I’m available if you need someone to bounce storylines off of or if you need feedback on a match. I’d like to help out the JLers where I can. Now then. Thoth – You’ve probably been my best friend in this Bizzaro-world of ours. It’s sad to see you burn out, but like you said, everybody comes back. Shit, look at me. You have it in you to be just as dominant as any other World champion we’ve ever had. Keep on keepin’ on, man. Z – For every lame idea you and I bounced off of each other, it seems like we came up with two that were brilliant. As much as I would’ve liked to see our storyline through to its conclusion, I don’t think either one of us are at a point where we can do it right. Maybe someday, right? If you’re not going to show for matches more often than I did, then may I humbly suggest you try writing something else, anything else, in the meantime. You’ve obviously got a talent for it, and I think you should consider using it. After all, you don’t have to go to school to be a writer if you don’t want to. Edwin Mac – The man, the myth, the legend…wait, nevermind, it’s just Edwin MacPhisto. You were one of the reasons I joined the ML long ago and far away, and one of the two people I always wanted to beat, King being the other one. Sadly, I never got to face either of you, and the real world has conspired against us both to prevent Edwin/Silent from ever reaching its thrilling conclusion. No matter. There will be better stories from you in the future, I imagine. And just like everyone else, you’ll be back. I hope I’m still around when you do decide to return. Flesher – You WILL be the World champion sooner rather than later, so stop questioning yourself all the damn time. You really are the best writer I’ve seen come through here since Edwin, and your matches are always fun to read. The Match Of The Week is a fantastic idea; hopefully you’ll keep it up. Keep yourself on the King’s Road for the time being, and don’t let the bastards (or the ungrateful women!) get you down. P.S. – The next time you starting questioning the worth of your pre-law courses, think about a Philosophy major. You seem to genuinely enjoy it. Annie E. – The board’s lesbian-in-command. You’re definitely one of my favorite people in this federation, and I mean that in a friendly way, not a seen-Chasing-Amy-one-time-too-often way. It’s great that you’re finally getting comfortable with your character. I expect to see you with that ICTV title, at LEAST, before much longer. TBS - How could I forget you? What, I did? Goddamn it...once we aired our respective grievances to one another, it's been good to know you, man. You've done a fan-damn-tastic job of stepping up to help fill the void left by Stubby's, er, "exit". And to further leave on a good note, here's a quote for you: TBS is teh roq, bitches. All of CC: None of this would be possible without you. There's not much for me to say that hasn't already been said. You are all justic and rule, and for that, my hat is off. The new bumpees – You all have a fantastic amount of potential. Yes, Johnny, even you. All of your characters are compelling, all of your styles are fresh and unique. Kick ass and take names from Clusterfuck on. It’s all uphill from here. Everybody else – HAVE FUN WITH YOUR CHARACTERS. The most dangerous thing you can do in this fed is take yourself too seriously. I really do believe I burned myself out trying to make Silent/Nathan evolve in a couple of months the way workers like Misawa and Kawada evolve over a period of years, and it just doesn’t work that way. Every now and then, do something outlandish with your character. The Carnival’s pranks and Frost brand products are both great examples of this. Keep yourselves entertained. But my, times have changed. We've both gotten a lot better, and as always, I hate seeing fellow MLers retire. But there's only so many of us left... That's about it for now.
