Guest Vern Gagne Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Being a CFB fan I like seeing what team gets what players. I do have a problem with any sort of Top 10 classes list. They usually include underachieving programs like LSU, Georgia, Michigan, and Texas. Can we please hold off on any ranking for 2 or 3 years. The players ranking aren't that accurate either. The best freshmen last season were Clarrett, and Williams. Neither was considered one of their schools best recruit.
Guest Blackston Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Actually, Clarett was named USA Today's high school player of the year last season. But you are still right, for the most part it is real tough to tell which players are going to be contributors right away. Hell, if you just go by who recruits the best, then you would think that Texass should have been able to take home a national championship at some point recently. Just take all of these rankings with a serious grain of salt.
Guest phoenixrising Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 Under Toledo, UCLA had several top 10 recruiting classes. It got them a winning record and the occasional bowl game and nothing else. It's good to have the talented players, but they gotta execute on the field and the coaches still gotta coach. Wasn't Clarett one of the top recruits last year? I remember before the Texas Tech game they were talking about how he was Ohio's Mr. Football, and that he was the first freshman since Archie Griffin to start at running back for OSU.
Guest Flyboy Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 *sees Texas Tech reference* *marks out* *leaves thread without adding insight*
Guest Vern Gagne Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 My bad on Clarett. I saw one magazine that only had him ranked 30th or so.
Guest Blackston Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Well, it's signing day. Let's see who ends up with the best class...
