gimmick instead of being Kurt Angle's lacky? He could been the WWE's New Jack.

Why the hell would anyone want to be the next New Jack? New Jack is a loser, grater faced, wanker who defaced another human being. Shelton is a much better athlete and probably a far better person.

Yes, that's something to aspire to. Instead of being a respected and feared amateur grappler connected with the World Champion, Benjamin could've been a no-wrestling-knowin', vacuum-cleaner-swingin', jail-time-havin' hardcore thug clone who legitimately injures everyone he wrestles.

Right.

Agreed. And I wouldn't call Benjamin Angle's lacky. I mean, he's working with Benoit for Chrissake! and you want him to act like a common thug?

Nah man, Benjamin is a lot more entertaining to watch in the role he's in now.

I mean New Jack was over in ECW and I'm not saying Shelton should act like New Jack in real life.

There's a slight difference in the fanbase between ECW and WWE. Also, most ECW acts (outside of true wrrestlers like Benoit and Guerrero) had a hard time getting over in other Feds. Witness Public Enema.

Shelton WILL get over if he isn't already, trust me. He is in direct contact with Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar and Edge. He has a great gimmick, great work ethic and amazing overall ability, which gives me a direct route to becoming one of the leaders of the "New Generation" for the WWE...

Let's not even mention that Benjamin is infinitely better than New Jack can even aspire to be.

But can Benjamin cut a 20 minute promo where he swears every other word ?

I liked New Jack when he first did his thing of running in and throwing the garbage can of weapons into the ring. It was fun. It was also 6 1/2 years ago. I moved on. He hasn't.

Public Enemy were hated in WWF so that's why they never got a shot, but the Dudleyz got over so Public Enemy would have in a snap.

In WCW, PE never really got much attention and were lost among the 3 million other wrestlers they employed and did jack shit with.

Yeah, instead of putting on ***3/4 tag matches, he should be hitting people with vaccuum cleaners and stapling them. Or something.

The following was written by the poster tamalie from over at WCMB, talking about the Brock Lesnar vs. Shelton Benjamin MAIN EVENT from a recent house show...

The double main event of the WWE card last night in Minneapolis was supposed to be Triple H vs. Scott Steiner and Brock Lesnar vs. Batista (Smackdown guy Lesnar guested on the Raw card for obvious reasons). Hunter no showed due to injury so instead Steiner faced Batista in a horrible match and Shelton Benjamin came in as a late sub to face Lesnar on top. Benjamin and Brock put on a very good wrestling match. We're talking good old school on the mat wrestling with amateur style take downs, holds, and counters and eventually Benjamin working for a long time on the leg to set up the Figure Four and Brock doing a great job of selling that leg.

The fans seemed appreciative for the most part. And for the first 10 minutes fans were silent, but it was the kind of silence that comes when fans are intently watching and concentrating. Eventually folks got a bit restless and they probably could have paced the bout better by giving Brock some more offense earlier and moving at a faster pace. When Brock made his babyface comeback to finish off the bout, fans came alive. They both looked outstanding and Benjamin is really going to be good when he gets more experience as a pro, especially working as a heel. The style of the bout makes me want to see Brock vs. Angle even more than before.

I think one thing that worked against this bout is that fans don't see Benjamin as being at Brock's level and would have expected Lesnar to handle him more easily.

It should also be noted that until Brock's final flurry, neither man used the ropes much at all. This bout was held on the mat for the most part.

...people, I think Shelton is just fine, lol. Wow, just wow, I really wish I could have seen this. I bet it also confused the fans seeing Brock wrestle such a style, because truth be told, they (we) aren't used to seeing him actually getting down and mat wrestling.

I really look forward to seeing this for myself on TV, and at WrestleMania with Brock/Angle! I bet it also helped the match by the way, seeing how Brock and Shelton are VERY familier with one another, I bet it was just great!

ECW acts actually have a pretty good success rate in the big two if you think about when they are actually pushed towards something.

Raven and Saturn were sucesses in WCW after having made their names in ECW. And RVD, The Dudley Boys and Dreamer are also in pretty good shape as far as being over and what not. Not the mention the near dozen guys that did a tour in ECW just before going to the big two.

Anyway, PE sucked.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

I don't think he actually meant Shelton should be attacking people with staple guns over a rap track, just that he could be the "gangsta" type guy.

However, the "gansta" gimmick sucks balls, so I'm happy Shelton is in this one which plays up his amatuer background. At least I think he has one. Either that or it's so good it convinced me he has an amature background when he really doesn't.

PS - I always get a kick out of New Jack maiming people with kitchen utensils and electronic equipment, but I wouldn't classify him as a "wrestler" per se.

New Jack is today's equivilant of a midget wrestler. Comes out and does an act that has no resemblence to actually wrestling that pops the crowd regardless. Personally, I thought he was fun as all hell what with the music playing all match long, but I would never want to see him work more than 8 minutes at a time.

Anarchy Rulz '99 is a perfect example of what New Jack should do.

Bunch of heels in the ring beating down the faces? **missile sound, "Natural Born Killaz" starts playing** New Jack comes in, clears house, and does his trademark weapon spots.

Interestingly, if you look at most of Brock's matches you will notice that he actually doesn't run the ropes nearly as much as most do, even without the amateur stuff. Its a rather neat quirk. Still...Brock/Benjamin. They need to do this match on Smackdown prior to Mania, with the story being that if Benjamin can take Brock to the limit, how will he take on Angle? It would elevate Benjamin and make Brock look more vulnerable, and we get a great TV match to boot.

They need to do ALOT more than that, though. Brock doesn't look vulnerable at ALL at this point. In fact, he's destroyed Angle, Killed Big Show 80 times, toom both members of Team Angle out of the Rumble, and thwarted every single one of Heyman's plans. They need to start giving Angle the upperhand, like NOW.

And maybe Shelton/Brock will finally give me that elusive good Brock match. I sure as hell hope so.

I think my favorite New Jack moment was at Anarchy Rulz 2000, even if there was some awkward delay in his music hitting. The look on the heel referee's face when he heard that gunshot (it's a gun, not a missile) was one of "Oh hells no, I done fucked up now!!"

EDIT: To address the topic though, keep Benjamin as he is, him and Haas are a pair of wrestlers I'll always want on my television if they keep this up.

Yeah. I "marked out" almost everytime New Jack came out, just cause his entrance was so cool. His matches suck cock though.

I was at MSG last night. Triple Lame said he couldn't fight, so

Team Angle wound up fighting Brock Gauntlet style. The three really worked oner Brock's left leg to a mostly unappreciative NY crowd. Either they didn't like how it was hotshotted or were HHH fans. Either way the three matches were well done.

A lot of fans thought that HHH was pulling of a Sean act. You know, the guy with tennis elbow.

Nah keep Shelton away from a Gangsta gimmick as the Team Angle thing couldn't be working out better at present, if he turns out like D-Lo a couple of years down the road then sure you may as well give it a go then but theres no point at the moment
