Guest jester Report post Posted January 31, 2003 Nathan Jones is expected to debut on the Smackdown roster as a face. He has been working as a face at recent house shows against Matt Hardy, and teamed with Chris Benoit against Team Angle at the Smackdown house show this past Monday. Credit: wrestlingobserver.com **** Did anyone expect this? I thought he was going to be a heel. Although if stories about his weak wrestling skills are correct, I suppose it would be better so a skilled heel like Angle could carry him... Discuss and stuff. Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted January 31, 2003 If they plan on making him a full-fledged face, they're going to drop the ball on the gimmick already. My guess is he'll be more of a tweener than face, and they'll build it up to the point where he snaps. It'll come off as if he's "rehabillitated", then segue into that whole Waylon Mercy style storyline of portraying a good guy while being evil at heart. Guest kurtangledoesnotsuck Report post Posted January 31, 2003 What a joke. The guy's built like a monster so why is he a face? Another management fuck up. They'll turn him heel within a month or switch him to Raw. I really have no time for this guy. Why? I don't care about 300+ pounders anymore.

Credit: wrestlingobserver.com Umm, no, this past Monday was the show where Jones injured Hardy. The house show this upcoming Monday does have Jones teaming with Benoit against Shelton and Charlie. Get it right Meltz! AS, I doubt they're going to risk the WM main event at this point. Post-Mania though.. *cringes*
Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2003 So, they spend the last what, 6-8 weeks building up how the guy did time, escaped from jail, is a huge monster, and talked about how he liked jail, and he's hoinh to be a.....FACE? WTF! I pray he turns heel ASAP and quickly disappears from the radar screen.
Guest Damn You Helmsley Report post Posted January 31, 2003 I wonder if this will be as bad as Albert's "hip hop hippo" face gimmick.

Guest PhillyDogg Report post Posted January 31, 2003 He'll be a face and then in two weeks he'll a hee,l then in a week he'll be a face and after 3 weeks he'll be a heel. That's how the WWE works. How many times has the Big Show turned heel and face? Too many times.

Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted January 31, 2003 Angle/Jones doesn't even sound like it would be remotely good.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted February 1, 2003 Another horrfiying thought. What if IT IS good? If Angle has a good match with a Hoss, they might "reward" him by giving him other hosses to carry.
Guest Ram Report post Posted February 1, 2003 Jones should be a neo-Taker (somewhat like Kane was being pampered to be). He's got the agility, speed, and size. But he needs to slow down and focus on doing moves he CAN'T FUCK UP.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted February 1, 2003 He's got the agility, speed, and size. ::Looks for talent. Can't find it. Looks again:: Oh well, can't win'em all. But he needs to slow down and focus on doing moves he CAN'T FUCK UP. 1. Punch 2. Kick Oh, Good.

Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 1, 2003 Well, at least it will be different then Batistia and Brock in terms of how they are brought in.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted February 1, 2003 Keep him away from Angle I agree with Sault on this... keep him as far away from Angle as possible! I disagree. Give them ONE match together that ends in clusterfuck. Have Angle control most of the match with solid leg work every once in a while have Jones explode with rage and destroy him with a huge move. Play up his inexperience. That'll make him look good and won't hurt Angle at all. After that... you gotta keep'em seperated.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted February 1, 2003 No, keep Angle away from hosses. They don't want to make themselves look good, don't force someone else to. And keep up with Kurt winning clean.
Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2003 I hate to say it AS, but eventually Angle will have to deal with Vince's deeply held belief that all you need are hosses. There's only so much you can do with the Smackdown 6 (heresy I know, but bear with me) before someone like the Big Hoss, Hosstaker, or Nathan Hoss (I don't include Brock because I STILL don't believe he fits the hoss label) gets thrown in there. Then when the inevitable match fails, guess who gets blamed? The one who isn't a walking pharmaceutical lab would be my guess. It's a vicious cycle that I doubt will end until a) someone else takes over the booking completely and b) that someone isn't sleeping with Terra Ryzing. Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 1, 2003 First, I wouldn't Include Brock Lesnar into The Hoss World because he has a different style and pace as opposed to Taker, Batistia and Jones. Brock is as quick as Edge and isn't really all that bigger in bulk than Hogan was, But no one considers Hogan a Hoss. However, I wouldn't include Brock in with the SMD 6...However, I would be willing to create the SMD 10 and add Brock, Haas, Benjamin and Kidman). Do I think they will go with Angle-Jones? Eventully, but I wouldn't fathom Jones being able to be a over face immeditally just because he is bigger then Brock, whom is an over face now. As Much as I loved to see Beniot and Angle bring this giant lad to a *** match and only elevate themselfs along the process, at least in the mind of TSM, I still think Jones is better served by becoming Taker's ultimate Nemmis driving Taker back to the Darkside at Summer Slam and Jones ending the psychological mind game angle at Series by burying the Deadman for good. problem is, The Deadman Taker is really the only logical foil to Insane Nate unless he decides to go after Kane and pretty much do the same angle only this time get better match quality. Jones, I've heard has incredible Charisma, let that and his supposdly good promo skills carry the fued with another good charismatic promoer and just have quickie brawls...leading to one big 15 minute war. Guest BDC Report post Posted February 1, 2003 Wait. So Jones, who hurt Matt Hardy, is getting a face push, while RVD, who's getting huge face reactions and hasn't hurt anyone for the longest time is getting depushed... Sometimes I wish I drank. A lot...
