Guest Mole Report post Posted February 1, 2003 Last semester my computer broke down. For the rest of the semester, I was using my friend Kobi's old computer. I am going back for this coming up semester, but I don't have a computer until mine gets fixed. My question is, do you fellas know a place where I can rent a computer? Like what stores would let me do that, and would it cost a lot? Thanks fellas.
Guest MrRant Report post Posted February 1, 2003 Rent-A-Center is like 20ish a month or buy a used/refurbed one for like 200 that will get you on the net ect.
Guest RobJohnstone Report post Posted February 1, 2003 Plus, rent a center gets the rented shit back and sells it very cheap. Ask about cash and carry.
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted February 1, 2003 There's no library that you can go to molestomp?
Guest TheGame2705 Report post Posted February 3, 2003 Take it from personal experience that doing homework and such at a library=ass. Steal a computer if you must.

Guest areacode212 Report post Posted February 6, 2003 Wasn't there a thread a while back about what a colossal ripoff those Rent-A-Center places were, and how only idiots who can't do math go there? How exactly was your computer "broken"? If it just needs some part replaced, you're probably better off buying a new part instead of renting a PC.

Sometimes you have to take a hit on something in order to get your credit back. --Rob
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted February 10, 2003 It's well known that "Rent A Center" type places are total rip offs. But like someone said those stores are for deperate people who because of money troubles have no other alternatives. But yes anyone who isn't desperate and rents from those places just may be total idiots who only look at the monthly and think "hey I can afford this". Guest Luke Cage Report post Posted February 23, 2003 If you rent a PC from a rent to own joint, be careful. I worked for Rent-A-Center from 94 to 98 (things may have changed since then) and none of the offices made an effort to wipe the drives of potential conf. info. I'd also be concerned about viruses. If you miss a payment, be ready for phone calls to be made not only to you, but your job, family and friends. Visits to your house to attempt to collect payment and/or merch will take place after a week or so. If you buy a used PC from a RTO, just be sure you ask the manager for ALL of the system discs and manuals...they will be happy to sell you a peice of crud with no documentation or OS back up. If there is no such material, don't buy it. Also, rent to own will do nothing to help your credit. RTO is NOT credit. Do it if you must, but no one should rent merch thinking it will help repair credit.
